Autocracy is a form of authority where the leaders can act without consulting the people or without the peoples consent. Autocracy provides divine rights on kings to arbitrary administer the state. The kings exert their authority and their decisions cannot be questioned. A republic government is a form of governance that follows a charter or a constitution to exert authority. In a republic form of government, the rulers are elected or appointed by people and thus the power is said to be in the hands of the voters.

This paper will describe how each of the three forms or government operates. Additionally, an opinion will be given on the form of government that I consider the best and reasons behind the choice. Democracy is a term used to refer to forms of government in the decisions made is reflective of the people’s opinion. Democracy is a philosophy used to describe a form of ruling where people have the right to control institutions by either selecting individuals to represent them (representative democracy) or where the people themselves make the decisions (pure democracy).

There are different types of democracy depending on the extent to which the people are involved in the decision-making. In whichever form of democracy, the rulers are answerable to the people who elected them and are thus supposed to give reports to show their progress. Pure democracy is an extreme form of democracy that requires the laws to be made by the citizens and not by the representatives. In pure democracy, everyone who has a vote has a say but must respect the decision that wins whether it is good or bad.

This is because pure democracy relies on the opinion of the majority. This form of governance is almost impossible in case of a nation or state since the decision-making process takes a lot of time and many resources are required in ensuring that people are involved in decision-making (Janda, Berry and Goldman 1-15; (Grigsby 165-170, 180-185). Republic form of government is a king of governance in which people select some individuals to act as their representatives and exert authority on their behalf.

In this form of government, there is a constitution, which guides the elected persons, and they must abide by it or else face certain consequence. Republic form of government is a standard form of governance dictated by laws. Liberty, contentment, justice, and rationality characterize it. The decision-making process is fast since the people only vote to elect their representatives. The constitution keeps both the majority as well as the elected leaders from violating the rights of individuals.

This is because it is the constitution and not the people that dictate the appropriateness of an action or activity (Grigsby 61-70). Additionally, the constitution provides for the selection of executive, legislature and judiciary bodies to aid in governance. The executive and legislature possess the power to appoint public officials, raise revenue, and decide how it will be used in addition to creating the judiciary. On the other hand, the judiciary ensures that the rights of individual as well as those of the nation are not breached and those individuals who do so are punished accordingly.

The three bodies help limit the power of each other preventing extremity (Grigsby 76-80). Autocracy is a rare form of governance in which all the powers are concentrated on an individual who makes decision that cannot be restrained or regulated by any other body or
