?Other (s) Analysis of the Movie “JFK” 1991 Directed by Oliver stone, JFK is a famous political thriller film that attempts to examine the events that lead to the fateful assassination of President J.F Kennedy as well as the subsequent attempts of cover-up. According to many authors, the facts in Oliver Stone’s JFK provide an interesting overlook at the film and the liberties it took with the truth. The film brings out a life changing ordeal on the assassination of John F. Kennedy and it is no embroidery hence seeing the movie vagaries lives for the facts contained in it. The film is an indication of what happened in Dallas and why there is still much insistent misperception in adjacent the whole incident. The film was principally reliable in its key influences which to some extent are factual. Some of the characters in the film are fictional comprising Willie O’Keefe while other is real titles of people such as General Edward, a designation constructed upon a tangible person. The film through its characters that are non-existent and its atmosphere seems to convey this assassination in a good life changing way. The events in this film are simplified to streamline a narrative; the film unbolts with a biography medley awarding Kennedy as essential progressive leader who saddened the formation and consequently found himself on the highway to murder. The happenings in this picture are varied in with re-formed imaginary material and seguehooked on the movie itself without difference making an inconspicuous but definite claim for documentary accuracy level. Oliver was in dread that his identifiable district might have been convoluted in the whole presidential assassination process, finally he goes to Washington to encounter unknown and unnamed administration insider who played with shameless intelligence by Donald Sutherland. Movies and drama have been used by various artists to discuss various important issues that affect man and the society. It is through such visual imitation of real happenings that acts to inform the viewers and the general public of the happenings around them. It is with this in mind that the director of the movie "JFK" 1991 tries to make Americans and the whole world understand the circumstances under which president John F. Kennedy died on 22 November 1963. Through the dramatization of events surrounding his death through a movies’ point of it becomes easy to understand the reality of the assassination. Though critics of the movie have disagreed in the way and mannerism used to bring the whole issue of the assassination into being and if there was conspiracy among the Government officials to assassinate him. The movie has had a big impact in the lives and understanding of the assassination plan (Mark, 1996). Though the movie has deviated to some degree on circumstances under which the assassination was planed it still has managed to use the historical facts to portray its authenticity. In the plot of the movie the basic facts identified after investigation by warren commission revealed that the president’s assassination was carried out by Lee Harvey Oswald. In addition the movies twist and emphasis on conspiracy is brought in by facts that were isolated by the United States House Select Committee on Assassinations. In its facts in 1978 differed with the findings of warren commission and concluded that the assassination was a conspiracy. (Wicker,1963). It is within this frame work that the film is developed though some scenes have been made to appear too much fiction. This is based on the findings that further gave evidence that the evidence provided in the warren commission had been tempered with. United States House Select Committee on Assassinations also claimed that there was a another person who fired the gunshots apart from Oswald therefore authenticating the aspect of conspiracy that the movie explores. It is through proper characterization that the movie portrays its theme in a more realistic manner. The characters fit well and resemble their real historical counterparts in personality and setting thereby making the movie seem realistic. This is depicted more so in the main characters who happens to be the assassin, the attorney and the president who is assassinated (Stone, 2000).The atmosphere and setting of the film begins by speeches of the president and shows the emerging rivalries of various groups brought about by invasions, Cuban missile crisis Vietnam war and civil unrest. This has been depicted in the movie to result to the assassination. It is later that the link between the assassination and the surrounding events are learnt by New Orleans District Attorney Jim Garrison who does the investigation to isolate the possible conspirators. It is here that the pilot is also investigated and acquitted upon the federal government refusing their report. It later emerged that the assassin was known as Lee Oswald who was later killed before he could give his account of the story and the motive behind the assassination. The movie therefore has taken the historical finding into consideration in order to be effective and authentic.(Wicker,1963). Despite the fact that it generally difficult to ascertain the conspiracy behind the death of Kennedy, the movie seems, to have relied on the earlier historical findings that indicated that perhaps there might have been a conspiracy to conceal who really killed Kennedy and as to what was the aim of such an action. This aspect is what was authenticated by the United States House Select Committee on Assassinations in 1978 that had the same idea. Critically looking at the aspects of the movie in terms of the suspects interviewed and the association they had with the alleged assassin it shows some form of inconsistency that warrants the conclusion perhaps there might have been more people to the story than as depicted and as such could not rule out aspects of conspiracy (Mark,1996). The facts by the HSCA did not show involvement of other groups such as Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) but to an extent suspected that some individuals in those groups may have initiated and executed the conspiracy. It is within this setting that the movie tries to show the conspiracy of some few individual by bringing in the character Mr “X” that disclosed to the attorney that other organs of the state are also involved. This fictional play is made to make the audience probably understand that Kennedy was assassinated because of his foreign policy concerning military industrial complex and as such some of the associated organs such as CIA could have lost power. The HSCA did not identify any other person or group such as CIA as well as the Soviet Union involved in the assassination besides Oswald, but they did specifically that they could not rule out the involvement of individual members of those groups. Kennedy's assassination continues to attract vies from various sides and given rise to so many instance of conspiracy (Inverne,2004). In conclusion, there is a fair degree of accuracy on the movie with regard to happened and this is clearly depicted in the film for a better understanding by the layman in America through motion pictures. However Although many authors agree that there were a number of security lapses in the presidential security force during his JFK’s trip to Dallas, this does not in anyway authenticate the events portrayed in the movie and the explanation being given by Mr. “X” as he tries to identify the lapses that to him were deliberate and an act of conspiracy. In this regard, it can be argued that the movie is seen to some extent depart from the factual evidence given. It is with this understanding that the movies is seen to be dramatically with little aspects of narrative. Works Cited Wicker.T. (1963). "Kennedy Laid to Rest in Arlington". The New York Times. p. 1.
