 Deviant and Criminal Behavior in the Workplace It is the study of how individuals behave in a workplace and how they interact among other employees in a company. Individuals in a company interact with each other in order to meet the objectives of the business (Colquitt, LePine & Wesson, 2011). Creating a positive organizational change requires the management to understand the workplace behavior of their employees. Most management focuses on understanding organizational behavior of their employees. The focus leads to the business realizing their set objectives. Individuals need to communicate with each other in an organization. It is important because effective teamwork helps the organization to meet its set objectives. Communication among employees needs to be effective for smooth coordination of activities in the workplace (Härtel, Zerbe & Ashkanasy, 2005). Effective communication in a workplace helps individuals become more productive. Individuals having their roles well defined characterize a well-organized institution. Organizational behavior Organizational behavior studies how individuals behave in organized settings. A good management team needs to identify the roles of their employees in the workplace. It will enable them to monitor the behavior of their employees. The monitoring of employee behavior enables organizations to understand their functions easily (Elias, 2013). The behavior of most individual results from the culture of the organization. The culture an organization affects how the employees act in the workplace. Most corporations have their own unique culture that is different from other companies. It means that employees will act differently depending on the organization. Most experts argue that organizational behavior results from the structure of a company. The structure and culture of an organization are linked together to explain employee behavior. Structural formation of an organization involves the management of the corporation. Managers have the capability of controlling the behavior of their employees (Sims, 2002). For example, there are companies that have programs in their systems that help their employees solve their problems. A strategy improves the behavior of employees in an organization. The study of employee behavior involves scientific, human relations and contingency approach. Adoption of the contingency approach means that the company is recognizing that employee behavior is a complex issue. Managers have the responsibility of developing ideas that will enable the organization to achieve its target. Experienced managers have the necessary skills that can apply in these similar situations. The managers, first have to identify the main behavioral challenge. Secondly, they need to locate the main causes of the current changes in organizational change. Thirdly, the managers need to develop ideas of achieving the goals of the corporations. Lastly, the managers have to implement the strategies they have chosen. Most experienced managers use the process described to drive the corporation towards achieving their set objectives (Sims, 2002). Changes in technology force managers to have a complex environment to monitor. Most organizations are becoming complex because of the changes that occur globally. The workforce is becoming more diverse because of globalization that brings people together from cultures. Globalization brings individuals together from different cultural backgrounds to work together (Seijts, 2006). Individuals act differently according to their cultures. The ability to manage individuals from diverse culture is a crucial trait. Managers with the capability of handling individuals from all occupations are important to the company. It means that the managers will understand the individual that have been discriminated. It is important to understand effective planning in an organization helps drive the corporation towards their objectives. Companies have the responsibility of conducting research to identify what prevents the organization from developing. This approach is important to employees because it helps them identify their roles in the organization. It helps the organizations open up communication between their employees. Communication is a key factor in most organization, because effective communication helps individuals achieve their set targets. Communication eliminates confusion and misunderstanding and helps the organization to achieve their targets (Seijts, 2006). Companies have to develop a system that evaluates gives a feedback to the management. It is to ensure that actions addressed immediately to increase the efficiency of the organization. The approach helps improve the workplace behavior of most employees in an organization. The workers work to achieve a certain job standard necessary for persona development. Workers train to give a feedback to the management for analysis (Sandberg & Targama, 2007). The feedback can be positive or negative but it helps the alerts the management of the progress of the company. Providing feedback helps improve the behavior of individuals in an organization. Group thinking is an approach that groups individuals into various groups for brainstorming. It is crucial in the improvement of employees' behavior in an organization. Collective knowledge enables individuals to work towards a common purpose (Hiriyappa, 2009). The behavior of the individual focuses on sharing a common objective. Group thinking develops individuals to decrease their margin for error. Group thinking unites workers to engage their efforts towards achieving the goals of the company. Group thinking unites individuals together towards realizing a positive change. Corporations have the responsibility of measuring change in their systems. The can create systems that monitor the change in behavior of employees. The willingness of an individual to change is crucial in developing workplace behavior. Most individuals are willing to change certain behaviors in the company. Change in behavior causes effectiveness in the workplace. Change of employees' behavior is subject to the factors that have changed in the corporations (Sandberg & Targama, 2007). Effectiveness of change is can be illustrated by evaluating different opinions of individuals. Types of workplace behaviors Organizations use workplace environment to understand the relationship of individuals in an organization. The management of organizations always aims to reach their set objectives. Attaining of the set objectives at a minimum cost requires monitoring of employees. The management of an organization monitors its employees to ensure that they give their best. Analysis of the way the employees interact is important to an organization. Top managers should be able to identify the different types of workplace behaviors (McShane & Von Glinow, 2014). It helps them to monitor the way the enterprise is taking. The types of workplace behaviors indicate the role of every worker in the organization. Management control Managerial control is one of the types of workplace behavior identified by experts. It involves the management team having control on the affairs of the corporation. They are numerous levels of management control that begin from autocratic control (Härtel, Zerbe & Ashkanasy, 2005). Autocratic control involves controlling the staff of a corporation. The system dictates the role of workers and their say on how to maintain the company. This workplace behavior is control how the corporation will maintain its policies (McShane & Von Glinow, 2014). Interaction of staff members help to achieve their individual goals. Ethical behavior Organizations that have strong ethical policies tend to have an ethical behavior from their workers. Organizations with strong ethical policies affect the behavior of its workers. The management has the responsibility of developing ethical policies. Ethical behaviors in the workplace help individuals to have an accepted way of treating people (McShane & Von Glinow, 2014). The society encourages ethical behavior in most institutions and they include churches corporations among others. Research has show that, businesses that encourage ethical behavior in their system have a high successful rate. The society accepts different behaviors and they include, treating customers with respect among other. Companies have to ensure that new employees are educated in the ways of the business. Coaching of new employees is important in showing them the importance of responsibility. Accountability An organization should have a structure that helps to maintain accountability. Workers have specific roles in an organization and it affects the general behavior of individuals. It means that individuals have to account for their roles in the society. It is an important behavior in the workplace and it encourages the staff to be responsible. Employees are accountable for their success. Contrarily, employees are also accountable for their failure. Accountability helps the management of an organization identify the main cause of problems in an organization (Härtel, Zerbe & Ashkanasy, 2005).Accountability enables the corporation to punish the individuals responsible for a certain failure. On the other hand, it gives the management the platform to reward its productive employees. Accountability indicates that individuals are assessed based on their productivity. It will have positive impacts on the behavior and efforts of the staff members. Accountability motivates staff members to have to put an extra effort towards achieving the goals of the organization. Management team should develop an accountability culture among the staff members. Harassment It is one of the negative workplace behaviors among individuals in a workplace environment. Most organizations have put policies that address the issue of workplace harassment. Researchers define harassment as any form of bullying among employees in an organization (Greenberg, 2010). Organization does not encourage harassment in the work place because it leads to a negative atmosphere among employee. Employees experience harassment and they end up reducing their work rate. Ethical corporations have set up various policies to help them reduce office harassment. The law expects employers to investigate cases of harassment when the affected victim reports it. The most common harassment in a workplace is sexual harassment. It mainly affects the women employees in an organization. Sexual harassment leads to low productivity among them in an organization. They feel nobody respects them in the corporation and develop a negative attitude towards the corporation. There are other forms of harassment and they include mental and age discrimination, physical discrimination. Training of the staff members on dealing with such cases is important to the success of the enterprise. Organizations have to work with lawyers to ensure that they develop policies that will help them (Arnold, 2005). Lawyers and law enforcement individuals help the organization develop strategies of dealing with work place harassment. Individuals train themselves on how to work their fellow employees to fight workplace harassment. Proper handling of harassment is important to individuals i an organization. Negative behavior can destroy the image of a corporation and it targets. An organization wants to present the best image to the society and harassment cases can make some companies to fail to achieve its set targets. Organizations should not take harassment lightly. In addition to, management team of an organization should discourage negative office behaviors. Managing behaviors in a workplace. In the 21st century, there are emerging issues in most workplaces on the behaviors of most individuals. The role of most managers is to motivate and inspire individuals to work towards achieving the goals of the organization. Manages have to monitor their employees to make them achieve their goals and objectives. There are many complexities in the structures of most current organizations. The complexities include demographic and social changes in the organizations. The factors help to influence the behaviors of most individuals in a workplace. Managers monitor the behaviors of heir employees during these complexities. Companies that effectively manage their workplace behavior report high profit margins. Successful companies such as Wal-Mart and Southwest Airlines manage the behavior of their employees. Positive employee behavior in the companies has enabled the companies transfer ideas throughout the company. Employees are an important tool for the development of the organization. Employees help the organization reach its set objectives. The management has to set a tone for the motivational tone for their employees. Managers improve the organizational behavior of their employees finding roles that fit their talents. Unqualified managers set tones that are destructive to the development of the organization. Management of workplace behaviors requires the managers to exercise their managerial role. Management of workplace behaviors requires a framework of dealing with the behaviors of all the stakeholders. The framework describes the skills needed to become a successful organization. Most companies are successful because of the effort put by their managers. Managers have the task of ensuring that the firm they are heading succeeds in every department. The managers have to ensure that the culture of the organization remains intact. Firms must stay informed to keep up with their competitors. Jack Welch, the former CEO of General Electric's argues that the success of an organization is measured by three basic components. He felt that choosing the right individual leads to effective transfer of ideas in the corporation. In addition to, it decides on how corporations allocate resources effectively. He argues that, employees of a given company quit their jobs because of the managers. They leave the manager because of their leadership skills. Effective management of workers and their behavior patterns is a key to the success of many corporations. Effective managers understand that individuals in a work setting have a corporate goal in their minds. Effective management of workplace behavior helps the managers solve interpersonal problems of employees. There are studies that indicate that effective management of workplace behavior leads to team building. The Development of teams is an important factor in the success of many companies. Effective teams are successful due to the management of workplace behaviors. It helps to establish the character of most workers how they can help improve the country Numerous companies have succeeded in improving the productivity of their workers. In the 1900s, there was scientific development of human behavior. The theory states that, application of scientific principles to human behaviors increases performance. The overall performance of the company increases and it leads to the maximization of profits. Frederick Taylor was the individual behind the success of the scientific theory. Taylor felt that individuals could be steered to attain a maximum output just like machines. It is a practical way of maximizing the output from a company. Elton May argues that, companies are entitled to show concern for the needs of their workers for maximum growth (Härtel, Zerbe & Ashkanasy, 2005). Achievement of optimum output by individuals is through addressing the needs of the workers. Most experts believe that, motivation of workers helps to increase the productivity of most workers Contingency approach is another approach that helps in managing employee behavior. The approach argues that there is no single way best manner of managing the behavior of workers. Employees work depending on various factors and the situations. The factors that drive the company towards success depend on the situations. The factors that motivate employees and their needs relates to the behavior. Employees act according to the situation that affects their decision-making. For instance, the morale of employees suffers when their company is doing poorly. This situation leads the workers to focus their attention on updating their resumes. The employees worry that they will lose their jobs and it lowers their productivity. In this case, the managers have to develop ideas that are important to discovering answers on their own. The process of managing the behavior of employees is important to most managers. It is a series of steps of managing human behavior. There are four steps involved in the process and they include: The first step is to identify the behavioral challenge of workers. It involves maintaining, improving the behaviors of the employees. It requires managers to identify the behaviors that are important to the success of the business. The behaviors are crucial to the success of the organization. The second step, it includes the identification of the cause of the current behavior. Managers are required to have the skills to identify what affects their employees. It means understanding what affects their employees and identifying what motivates them. The third step involves choosing a solution for attaining behavioral goals. In this, step managers have to generate ideas important for behavioral goals. Managers have to develop solutions to know to determine why organizational behavior is important. Finally, managers have to implement the strategies, monitoring the changes and make adjustments where possible. Operational managers who implement the solutions characterize the last step. They are required to make inspire and persuade the employees to take action on their existing behaviors. Conclusion In conclusion, globalization brings individuals together from different cultural backgrounds to work together. Managers have the responsibility of developing ideas that will enable the organization to achieve its target. Managers have the capability of controlling the behavior of their employees.
