In achieving such a career one needs to draw a path which he or she decides to take. Given limited opportunities in many companies and increased competition among the jobseekers one needs to have an area of specialization. In this area of specialization, they will develop their skills so as to achieve the desired career path and objectives. Therefore, it is necessary for every person to encompass a career strategic plan to help them achieve their objective and be successful in their careers (Billet & Henderson, 2011). This at times, calls for reworking of the initial plan so as to incorporate the emerging changes in the desired career. It is important for an individual to achieve as much as possible from their strategy in relation to achieving the requirements and aptitude of the desired career as well as understanding what the employers require when recruiting. Increased competition in the labor market will often force the corporation to adjust to the changes so as to attract the best workforce. As a result of this, the human resources managers will change from their normal recruiting styles and adopt competitive style, which help them employ individuals’ relevant skills and talents related to achieving the organization’s needs. This field is fast growing and achieving growth, which call more entrants in job market and provide the required skills and attributes so that organizations can achieve their goals and objectives. There a lot of challenges that face supply manage and this requires young and educated people to eliminate such challenges. There is great potential for growth and development in this field where one can start as a junior staff and rise to management level. This position is very important for any company to be effective because it connects all the departments. The holder of this position is responsible for planning of all the company’s activities, purchasing of company’s inputs, production, all transportation matters, customer care services, storage and distribution of the company’s products. The company ensures that the individual can handle the challenge that comes with this role and there are no delays in the chain of supply and the goods are delivered to customers when they need them (Gooby, 2000). The alignment of my values and desired field of work Chain supplies require one to understand all the functions of major departments of the company. It is important to check on owns individual capabilities before deciding on which career path to take. During my personal assessment in my career, there are these attributes, ability to provide proper planning, organizing of goods, motivating other members, data analysis and liaising with all the stakeholders. Also, with my personal attributes of result oriented, duty conscious, honest, patient and being creative will help in solving all the challenges that come with this role. Also, good record keeping electronically and manually is vital in achieving the best results as the best supply chain manager (Latham, 2007). In addition to the above, I have good organizational and communication skills will help me in achieving the desired goals and objectives. Also, I have a nice way of motivating my fellow workers in my work place. I am a good team player who always listens to the ideas and suggestions of my fellow employees that will benefit the company giving the best goods and services. My flexibility will also help to work towards achieving my career goals and objectives (Billet & Henderson, 2011). My view of success in the workplace My view of success in my work is how the company will achieve its goal and objectives as it expands to achieve the desired growth and development. Also, success as I view it is to have a good working environment where one can work comfortably and make the best decisions to benefit ones career and the company. Success should be in a way that there is a balance between my work place and my social life. Career goals and objectives My five year strategic plan puts in consideration my goals and objectives that will help me achieve success as a supply chain manager. My career goals include successfully completing my college studies, job application and getting employment in one of the most reputable companies in the world. Career goals are the key elements that help an individual to climb employment ladder (Wigfield and Eccles, 2002). There are two types of career goals these are short-term and long-term. The short-term goals have a short life span of 1-2 years and pave way for the long term goals which have a life span of 5-10 years and are to be achieved in the future. Therefore, achieving short term goals is preparation for long term goals (Gerhart, Hollenbeck, Noe and Wright, 2007). My short term goals are to complete my course and graduate from college and get a job with one of the best companies in the world. The long term goals are to climb the employment ladder into a managerial level. This will help me achieve the necessary skills so as to develop my career. My objective is to achieve a lot from my place of work, where there is, a high level of independency in a reputable company (Billet and Henderson, 2011). This will help me get promotion until my desired position of a supply chain manager. Table of career goals, objectives and strategies to be used Goals Time-frame Objectives Strategies Short-term 1-2 years Pass examination and tests. Reading hard and smart. Graduate. Complete the course & pass. Secure a job. Apply for job opportunities. Long-term 5-10 years Promotional opportunities. Perform my duties diligently. Keeping a positive attitude. Managerial responsibility. Providing solutions. Knowledgeable on management issues. Maintaining ethics of work. Comparing and contrasting My current career strategic plan has not deviated so much from the one I developed during professional development. The plan has changed because of the high level of technology involved in my desired field. Therefore, this has prompted change in order to have the necessary technical skills. The changes have been influenced by extensive research I have been doing in my desired field. Most of the goals in my strategic plan have remained the same especially the short term goals. There has been no change in my long term goals because they have majorly contributed to the change in my current career strategic plan. In conclusion, there is the need to keep on adjusting to changes in the workforce so as fit in the job market. Therefore, for one to achieve the desired goals and objectives need to acquire the relevant studies and skills to work in the desired field. There is the need to have research so as to know what the employers and some jobs require. This will help an individual on what studies to undertake so as to acquire the necessary skills. This strategic plan have and will help me become a better and a responsible person so as not to lose focus on my career goals and objectives. Therefore, it is necessary to have a clearly drawn strategic career plan to achieve the desired goals and objectives. When designing a career strategic plan one needs to be flexible because job requirements change and one needs to adjust to these changes. Bibliography Billet, S., & Henderson, A. 2011.
