Thus, it is necessary to focus on ethical theory that has been previously ignored and the current ones that are emerging such as ethical leadership, customer’s satisfaction, relationship between management and workers in post- industrial economy among others (Arnove, et al 2012). Currently the economy is complex since we have moved from production and manufacturing economy to a service and experience focused economy thus in a post- industrial economy ethics is vital for services and experiences. Human resource in 1920s was a term used to describe workers as a kind of capital asset. However, due to uprising misunderstanding between the employees and employers the term became more developed (Ilbery, et al 2014). There are various aspects from human resources movie that can explain ethical relationship between management and workers in post -industrial economy. The aspects include; skills and qualification. A company should strive at employing qualified and skilled workers. In the movie human resource, jealousy against Franck builds up because his general manager develops a liking towards him since he is more qualified than his immediate supervisors and determined to be the best. Secondly in post- industrial economy, workers should be a part of a work union. In the metal factory, the workers have a union that organizes a go slow to fight for their rights. Representation of workers is important since the representatives’ act as a go between for the workers and management (Gariga, et al 2013 pg 69- 96). The management too ought not to get involved in workers personal lives. Father-son relationship is jeopardized when Franck’s idea to better the company leads to laying off of his dad and other employees. There should be communication between the employees and employers to facilitate a good work environment and the employees should not be undermined based on their social class. The workers shouldn’t be made to look like resources and the management should be humane to them and not reprimand them based on the production quota as is in the case of Mr. Verdeau. The management should also strive to create a friendly working environment for employees (Mc. Kee et al 2012) The ethics of family friendly organizations explores the degree to which personal, professional and organizational goals should be aligned in a firm. The organization should not get involved in private affair of their employees. As in the case of human resource the relationship between father and son is destroyed when the metal factory uses Franck ideology to lay off his dad who’s been a diligent employee (North house, et al 2015). “Sage’ chapter 3 managing ethical implication of bigger box is applicable to human resource movie. The relationship between father and son is destroyed; the relationship between Franck and his friends turns to jealousy because Franck’s idea is used by managers to lay off workers including his dad. Due to lack of consultation with the workers there is strike since most workers are to be laid off. In addition the metal factory company does not treat its workers with outermost respect to them they are machines that can be scrapped off anytime. The gap (RED) campaign theory of chapter four relates to failure of the company to meet its end of deal with workers for instance Mr. Verdeau contract stated he is to resign five years from then but the company nevertheless lays him off together with other workers (Bryman et al 2015). Human resource movie is definitely a French movie since it is conscious about the class system in contrast to an American movie. The characters names are French. The movie revolves around work and specifically work in a factory. The character frank sees his dad as pathetic and is ashamed of his dad since he has moved up his class ladder because he is educated and has a different viewpoint. When his dad accepts pension from the same people who lay him off few years to his retirement, this is ironical to him. On the other hand the dad is pictured as an individual who can’t work without machines since even during his days off he works on his machine at home. Globally it is a common trend for workers to be laid off few years to their retirement and not only in France.( Northhouse, et al 2015) The force behind workers actions at Enron Company is Kenneth Lay- Enron founder, the executives and investors to the company. When two employees are found betting on oil market no action is taken against them probably because it brought profit for the company. On the other hand when Louis Borget is found to be diverting the company’s money to offshore accounts the founder, Kenneth Lay encourages them to keep making millions for the company. Corrupt leaders are covered up. The fact employees actions are ethically immoral and are justified, assumed and even encouraged so long it profits the company motivates the workers to continue with their wrong actions. The environment created for employees makes them not realize how wrong they are. And the fact that investors not withdraw their contributions despite various scandals makes the firm think they are on the right tract in making money (Hopkins, et al 2012). From the start employees and executives at Enron are corrupt. This is so because of varied reasons. In the first two years of it is establishment, three workers engage in ethically immoral actions and the company keeps silent. When the company almost goes bankrupt, that’s when an action is taken and the three employees are fired. In addition, Skilling a visionary who has been hired to help the company from being bankrupt introduces ‘survival for fits’ policy that makes the work environment unfriendly and some workers are laid off. As some workers are being laid off, Skilling is employing others who he personally is familiar with. The management goes ahead to cover up the actions of corrupt Lou Pai who steals billions from the company and does not take action towards the employees and executives who steal from the company towards the end, Skilling goes ahead to start abusing investors and even confronts the media and those who goes ahead to inform the public that they are not genuine in their business. Even as the curtains fall, Ken Lay and Skilling insist on their innocence (Markhoff, et al 2012). The demise of Enron and its record-breaking bankruptcy is argued to be as a result of inadequate ethical corporate behavior. Enron Company invested in projects that were so risky and in return couldn’t keep up with their obligations and pay off their debt. Secondly, Enron’s abuse of accounting practices such as mark-market accounting and the use of special purpose entities to hide financial debt. To reduce earnings, Enron capitalized on the use of subsidiaries and special purpose entities which led to its collapse. The largest impact which brought it to its knees was the use of two ideologies which were not compatible: making money and being an operative company. After Richard Kinder resigned, two individuals Skilling and Rebecca Mark, with different leadership style and management were placed in charge of the company. The ideological friction between Mark and Skilling brought Enron to its knees as each wanted to prove right than the other. To add salt to injury, high level managers in in skilling’s and mark’s side such as chief financial officer Andrew Fastow took advantage and collected huge amounts of money from the policies that were put in place within the company (Hopkins, et al 2012).
