A RESEARCH PROPASAL FOR DUBAI ELECTRI AND WATER ITY (DEWA) DEWA is an based in Dubai that aimsat managing various development projects to extend and update the efficiency of its infrastructure, power generation, and water supply as a long-term plan. The institution puts into place several measures in view of Dubai Strategic Plan that aim at putting Dubai on the face of the world as a humanitarian nation with a green environment made up of ecofriendly companies that produce non-pollutant gases. Proposal A proposal that a Carbon Centre of Excellence should be developed in Dubai would be the most probable requirement for the nation and DEWA would possibly see through achieving this. The Institution should be managed under the successful leadership of the managers and executive Directors in DEWA who have made Dubai ecofriendly by their ground-breaking projects. The institution will be uniquely placed in the Middle East and it will be tasked with gathering and consolidating all the efforts towards achieving a cleaner environment. Global warming is currently a worldwide disaster that needs to be combated by all nations so that a balance of nature can be maintained in the environment. DEWA has worked in accordance with development programmes of Dubai to apply the latest technologies for optimal use of energy, water, and environment. The Carbon Center of Excellence will work hand in hand with DEWA but specifically focus on dealing with pollution and carbon emission in the energy sector. Objective The Dubai Carbon Center of excellence will aim at reducing global warming by developing plants that reduce carbon emissions and allow the existence of an eco-friendly environment in Dubai. This will help Dubai meet the world requirements of eliminating pollution of dangerous gases such as carbon. The most important topics that are given priority in the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority are power generation and water desalination, which do not ensure that carbon emission is eliminated. These topics, including control of carbon emissions, are a major part of the Dubai Carbon Centers’ vision that aims at consolidating the production capacity in the energy sector. Background Dubai aims to produce about 12% of its energy needs through clean coal technologies, 12% through the use of nuclear energy, and another 5% through renewable energies but the issue of eliminating pollution has not been fully addressed. DEWA has made significant accomplishments in production of sufficient energy and developing modern infrastructure of power grids and water networks. In addition, it has set effective programmes to meet Dubai’s future needs with reference to the ever-growing population in Dubai. The relentless pursuit of various countries in the world to save energy in all of its forms clearly demonstrates that it is a vital element and a major requirement for achieving sustainable development and the prosperity of nations. SWOT Analysis Its success is evaluated by considering its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that are associated with introducing the carbon center in the market and industries. The analysis of the environment and the consumer are included in the SWOT table below. Subject: The creation of a Dubai Carbon Center of Excellence to reduce carbon emission in the energy sector for DEWA Strengths The carbon center would ensure production of clean energy. The project would be a major pillar towards achieving an ecofriendly environment. This proposal addresses Global warming that has been a major disaster world over and is becoming more lethal each day. The stakeholders including world leaders are committed and are confident that the proposal can be implemented. Weaknesses Experts will simply use prospects on the expected level of reduced carbon emission because the project has not been tested in Dubai. The proposal will receive rejection from smaller industries that are governed by DEWA but cannot afford the plant. There is a possibility of insufficient management cover financially. The proposal requires that experts should be employed from various energy sectors that would pinch and stretch the budget. Delivery-staff need training is required. Opportunities The market would readily adopt this project because it focuses on reducing global warming. The currently used plants to eliminate carbon emission have not been fully adopted in the market. Profit margin will be good considering that the world activates on eliminating emissions of dangerous gases. The project can extend to overseas and particularly developing nations. Threats The legislation of this project could result in reduced energy production contrary to Dubai’s objectives. The environmental effects associated with this project will favours large competitors and eliminate small companies in the energy sector. Focusing on combating carbon emission will divert the main aim of DEWA that is sufficient energy production. PEST Analysis The proposal takes into account the political, economic, sociocultural and technological advancements in the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority to gauge the possibility of implementation with minimal costs. Politically Dubai is stable and the leadership is always supportive of innovations. DEWA is managed by sensitive directors and managers who have transformed the institution into a world-class company producing sufficient energy and water pipelining. Within the Islamic society, consideration must be given to sociocultural customs and religious believes. The Economy and Technology adopted in Dubai have put the country in a strategic point for development in all sectors. Interest rates and employment level per capita in Dubai is favorable for any business or company set up in Dubai. The factors are a favorable consideration to enhance a competitive Carbon Center of excellence. DEWA brags the production of sufficient energy and this proposal of initiating a carbon combustion plant will be well received by its managers. Research Methods The main research methods used to collect data were using detailed interviews and references to books, journals and articles on Dubai and DEWA in particular. A questionnaire was designed to obtain demographics, gauge the experience of workers and to assess attitudes and practices of the citizens. Attributes were measured using a list of statements that reflected the benefits of a pollution free environment. This research also focused on the Dubai Global Energy Forum that was chaired by His Dubai. The forum was a platform to exchange visions, experiences and best practices. It was aimed at deriving innovative ideas to overcome the current challenges in the energy sector. The proposals were supposed to be transferred into promising opportunities for a sustainable future in Dubai. The proposed Carbon Center of Excellence will attract global efforts and gather eminent personalities and experts from various energy sectors. Works Cited Agency, International Energy.
