This research paper discusses Management Information System (MIS) with special emphasis being laid on its capability to help organizations access, share, and use information. The researcher has used some of the iPhone MIS apps to support the effectiveness that can be achieved in sharing, accessing and using information in an organization while using MIS software. The ease at which organization can be able to access, share and use information is one of the aspects that have gained much consideration in the current world; through the information, current challenges are communicated in time and counter measures effected before more damage is experienced. Likewise, sound strategies are implemented in a timely manner. Modern organizations have been relying on MIS to order, organize, manage, and to manipulate the large amount of data and information generated for their various activities. AIS refers to a model that businesses entities use to manage their monetary data to be used by consultants, managers, auditors, regulatory organizations among others (Khurana, 2010). Accountants use AIS so as to ensure that business’s record keeping and all financial transactions are accurate and that they are easily accessible by persons and agencies who are legitimate to obtain them. AIS also plays another major role in ensuring that all the above types of records and data are safe (Gupta, 2011). The speed at which organizations are able to share information is a very essential aspect that modern businesses are giving much emphasis. Intradepartmental and interdepartmental interaction between various business departments and units are essential and a key determinant of whether an organization would succeed or not. Harmonization of communication within an organization prompts to a better understanding of various jobs that are carried out. Employees easily understand their perspective objectives and the involvement of every division in accomplishing stipulated goals, an aspect which ensures timely execution of the diverse business activities (Gupta, 2011). Inter-departmental communication also enables the establishment of a team force that is directed towards accomplishing set goals. Sharing of information in an organization helps in improving networking between organizations; enable sufficient use of executive resources, helps in making rational and sound decisions and sharing of information helps in developing a degree of professionalism. Various technological companies have developed applications in order to fully meet the need for sharing information in an effective and reliable manner. The applications are diverse and made to address the specific needs of business enterprises. Such organizations include the techno-giant, Apple Incorporation, a company that has developed numerous Management Information Systems used in its products such as iPhones. With Apple gadgets that are installed with information system applications, it is easier for a business organization to make the best resolution (Miles, 2013). ‘iPhone iPad customer management apps’ are types of MIS that provide management with information to control shoppers interaction though the sale process (Miles, 2013). New opportunities in the diverse fields have been created as a result of development as of these apps. Other than managing clients’ contact details, the most recent iPhone applications are applicable in internet businesses and data communication (Miles, 2013). In this regard, professionals are able to carry on their assignments, even when out of office. Apple MIS apps can be used for business purposes, or for private use. Private users can use such applications to share important tools like calendars, both publicly and privately with other people, an aspect that gives users flexibility in organizing calendars. For instance, a person can make a calendar for his or her child’s sport team and share it confidentially with just the coach so he or she can edit it (Apple Inc, 2014). Some of the Apple MIS customer management apps include the ‘Salesforce Mobile for the iPhone/iPad, vtigerCRM Mobile for the iPhone/iPad, and Zoho CRM for the iPhone/iPad’ just to mention a few. Some of these customer management systems can be downloaded free of charge from the company’s website, with others being for sale only. Management Information System (MIS) also play a major role in making data and information accessibility easier and faster. Professionals are able to access information instantly from their sales force using gadgets like iPhone because of applications like ‘Salesforce Mobile for the iPhone/iPad’. This is a free version application that allows users to create, correct, and delete information in their sales force. ‘Zoho CRM for iPhone’ is another example of an MIS for managing customer’s information by offering the users with a sound consumer interaction life-cycle supervision software. Other iPhone apps that make data accessibility easier include the ‘NetSuite for iPhone’ (Apple Inc., 2014). Easy and efficient data and information usability is another key aspect of Management Information System (MIS). A good MIS should make the process of accessing and using data and information by the relevant persons and agencies easy and faster. Almost all apps used in iPhone are user friendly and making the process of accessing and using information an easy task. For instance, Zendesk is considered the best software that is used by more than 25,000 companies. It is an elegant MIS software that is consumer friendly due to its simplicity, thus providing a great way to customer support (Miles, 2013). In general, it is clear that MIS is beneficial to diverse business irrespective of their operation field. Some of its merits include efficient linkage of different departments, labor saving, and faster sharing of information among others. With the organization’s data and information sharing, accessing and using made easy, the workforce of that particular organization using the MIS is able to save a lot of time. With a MIS, manual work in data entry is eliminated. Instead, the needed data can be fed to a computer program thus saving much of their time and making the whole process less cumbersome (Heijden, 2009). In conclusion, Management Information System (MIS) is a system/process that offers data and information so as to assist in efficient running of an organization. MIS is a crucial element in the modern world for any organization for it helps in shaping the strategies of an organization, thus maintain higher level efficiencies in all activivities and maintaining a competitive edge. A good Management Information System should be able to identify weaknesses in the organization and day to day inefficiencies. Management Information Systems and the information they provide are considered as crucial elements of reasonable and prudent professional decisions. In addition to these benefits, management information systems ease the process of accessing, sharing, and using organizations’ information by management and other persons who are legitimate to access it. Apple iPhone apps and financial accounting systems as well as subsystems are good examples of Management Information Systems.
