In 2003, BlackBerrys were released, allowing consumers to check emails, send text messages, browse on the web, and other wireless functions. After a while, BlackBerry started to put its focus primarily on emails, finding ways to improve it to allow for easy access on the go and providing the best security for it. Over the years, BlackBerry came out with innovations such as improvements on the trackpad, new features for text messaging, and also implemented a touch screen feature along with the QWERTY keypad in their later models.

Unfortunately, like with most technological creations, products will soon enough decline, which is exactly what happened to BlackBerry after Apple and Samsung took over the smartphone market with their products.Shortly after the debut of Apple's iPhone and Samsung's Galaxy, the BlackBerry smartphones started to decline. Back in 2010, BlackBerry’s stocks were at a record high of 43% market share. Today, their shares are at $11 per share, down from $237 per share back in 2007; which is approximately a 95% decrease in their shares.

Even though Blackberry has faced immense challenges in the market especially with smartphones, the company continues to thrive based on certain strengths. One of the strengths of the company is that it has a great reputation among mobile phone users because of the proprietary technology that sets it apart from its competitors (Reuters, 2016). Most corporate entities prefer Blackberry phones because the technology employed in the production of gadgets such as smartphones is excellent. Moreover, Blackberry devices are compatible with most mobile platforms and can be used anywhere around the world.

Ideally, the Blackberry devices epitomize mobility and portability.Blackberry is preferred by most users because of its security features. It is imperative to underscore that Blackberry devices are secure to a greater extent and its security features are rivaled by none in the business (Spence, 2016). Blackberry devices are popular with users both in the corporate sector and public organizations because the gadgets can be integrated and linked with virtual private networks without compromising on security.
