What are your academic interests and your purpose and objectives in undertaking graduate study? Over the years I have realized that my passion is directed towards being a creative individual and delve in the studies of different cultures and traditions all across the world. I am also quite interested in learning about the aesthetics of different cultures and how people perceive fashion across the world. This as a result has attracted my attention in the field of fashion industry and I have started my own business under the name Lamssa Creation. My company deals in apparel and accessories thorough e-Commerce and caters to the customers of different cultural background. My interest in starting my own business and setting up a company was initiated by my graduate degree course at the University of London. During my graduation years I have learnt about the introduction to business and management along with corporate law. These subjects have given me a clear idea on how a business is run and how I can leverage this knowledge to start my own business. My company has been initially set up for catering to a narrow customer segment particularly in London. However, I aspire to make my business grow in to a multinational level and gain access to a larger customer base. My long term goal is to promote and expand my business at an international level. During my stay in London, I sold my products to private individuals and acquaintances in college. In order to further expand my business I looked out for different ways to make business collaboration with another company. Therefore I contacted with Debenhams at 10 Brocker Street, London and offered my business proposal. The head of buying, Miss Sara Turner, was convinced by my business idea and asked me to send pictures of my designs. In order to further strengthen my relationship with the company, I even paid a visit to Debenhams and had the opportunity to browse through their spring and summer collection making sure my pieces would blend well with theirs. It clearly indicates how much I am passionate in meeting the existing needs and preference of the customers. I have some professional experience which I gained while conducting my internship at in project management of the construction company of my family. During my internship I had the opportunity to have a close look at how a business is run. By getting the chance to work at my family business, I was highly motivated to start my own business following my own area of interest and passion. The internship has taught me how to establish budgets and estimate costs. These functions have helped me to run my business properly. Moreover, my engagement as an accounting intern in Benabdallah has given me sufficient knowledge about book keeping and managing the financials of my company. I also have other proficiencies like multi linguistics and knowledge in Microsoft office, SAGE, BB Consultant. I can fluently speak and write English, French, Spanish and Arabic along with basic knowledge about German. These proficiencies will help me in conducting business activities in several countries with different languages. My knowledge in diverse languages will help me profoundly to understand customer preferences of different countries as I will be able to communicate with culturally diverse customer base and their culture will inspire my designs as well. Therefore, it will help me to expand my business as my long term goal. My company is currently at its infancy stage and I would like to implement international marketing skills and knowledge to diversify it in several overseas locations. In order to achieve that I will require studying marketing in details and getting in-depth knowledge about how I can set up an international business operation. This is one of the key reasons why I want to study International marketing in Kings College London. The post graduate program at King’s College is considered to be one of the most respected master’s degree. By studying the international marketing program I will be able to improve my marketing skills and devise new strategies to improve my business operations and expand it to the international level. The master’s degree in International Marketing at Kings College offers courses like international marketing, consumer behaviour, marketing strategy and planning, Brand management, Digital marketing, Business to Business marketing, etc . A master of science in International Marketing at King’s College offers exactly those topics that are required to become a successful entrepreneur. People all over the world have different needs. Organisations must accept that differences in values, customs, languages and currencies will mean that some products will only suit certain countries and that as well as there being global markets. The potential market size, degree and type of competition, price, promotional and product differences as well as barriers to trade have to be analysed alongside the cost-effectiveness of various types of transport. It is hoped that International Marketing course taught at King’s College will help me to understand how to set up a business overseas and consider the cultural background of the host market while launching my products. Moreover, understanding why people buy what they buy is crucial for effective marketing, helping managers identify appropriate people to target and design and communicate attractive offerings. We buy goods and services every day: to eat, to wear, to read, to watch, to play, to travel, to exercise, to make us wealthy and perhaps wise. Consumption is so prevalent that we are often unaware of its importance in shaping our lives. Every element of the marketing plan benefits from an understanding of the customer, and with the rapid pace of change in consumer markets today this is only going to become more important. The Consumer behaviour course will help me to understand the psychological profile of my target customers and their individual preferences. By studying the consumer behaviour I will be able to understand what my customers want or which products will make them happy. The consumer behaviour study is quite essential to set up a successful fashion designing business. This will help me to track the current trends in the global fashion industry thereby guiding me in my product development process. Marketing takes time, money, and lots of preparation. One of the best ways to set up a business is to develop a solid marketing plan. A strong marketing plan will ensure I am not only sticking to my schedule, but that I am spending my marketing funds wisely and appropriately Firms that are successful in marketing invariably start with a marketing plan which will help them assess whether their idea is feasible or not. A marketing plan includes everything from understanding your target market and your competitive position in that market, to how you intend to reach that market and differentiate yourself from your competition in order to make a sale .The marketing strategy and planning course taught at King’s College will help me to implement my business idea in a broader spectrum. I will be able to select the right distribution channel to sell my products and set up the right pricing that will not only help me to cover my expenses but at the same time will also help me add value for the customers. The marketing strategies will also help me to select the right business partner to work with and integrate my business by strategic merger activities with prospective business customers. The B2B (Business to Business) marketing course will help me to reach out to several business customers and sell my products though third party channels, which as a result will help me to further expand my operations. Finally, the study of brand management is among the most important ones that will help me to develop a strong and attractive brand image in the industry. As I have realized that customers are highly attracted towards branded products and their purchase decision is largely dependent on the brand value of the products and services that they come across in the market. Thus the study of brand management will help me to improve image of the products of my own company that will help me to attract new customers and increase my revenue generation and brand awareness. Alongside of brand management the study of digital marketing will help me to implement a robust marketing communication strategy. The increase in spectrum of digital marketing is mostly because of the constant technological advancement and the increased popularity of internet and social media. The rise of social media marketing and the increase of internet usage have opened up new ways for the marketers to communicate with the customers. It also offers an effective and yet cost effective method of business promotion. Thus the digital marketing course will help me to successfully leverage the rise of technology and reach out to a wide base of target audience. My academic and professional experiences have provoked a strong desire to start my own business and I can confidently say that the intellectual and practical training provided by the International Marketing program of King’s University will sufficiently prepare me to follow my passion of expanding my own company. Therefore I am quite confident that the master’s program in international marketing will help me achieve my long term goals. I am looking forward with anticipation for my admission in Kings College London. Read More
