Impacts of the Electronic Media in the Economic Development Electronic media are the machinery used for transmission of information such as the radio, television, internet, fax, CD-ROMs and even DVDs among others. They are used in giving information to a divergent audience with the requirement of electricity and digital encoding of all the information that is derived. The electronic media are mainly aimed at presenting programs that are liked by the audience inclusive of; family planning programs, health, local and international news coverage, drama, agricultural programs and many interviews. The Internet is classified to be the latest media that have been used in economic development and has proved to have high impacts as compared to the other type’s media traditionally used in economic development. This paper analyses the impact of electronic media in the economic development. Electronic media forms the biggest chunk of information that has spurred the economic development in various places. Through the use of electronic media, many people are more informed on matters to do with the economic development that is done through many adverts and programs offered by the boot media (Fiksel, 2011). Some electronic media are used in supplementing telegraphs that give messages and make people informed concerning some urgency measures that ought to be employed in economic development. In most cases, the electronic media can improve public awareness on what ought to be done to improve economic developments of a country through the information that they give. The awareness raised sometime touches on what the public is supposed to do to ensure that the country economic developments do not lag behind. Electronic media has also impacted the manner in which advertisement in being carried out. Traditional methods of advertising required more effort on the side of the businesses to make adverts and more efforts on the consumers to get such adverts. However, the technological revolution has made it possible for the electronic media to offer efficient methods of advertising to their clients. The need for efficient business has resulted into more acceptance of the electronic media within the advertisement industry. Businesses need more customer relationships and this can be effectively realized through the use of electronic media such as the internet. The use of electronic media in advertising seeks to explore new and effective advertising mechanisms to drive business services and the opportunity for expansion. The electronic media provides the platforms that enable the marketers to arouse the consumer interest more than it was possible before the invention of the electronic media. In this regard, the consumers become more satisfied and the businesses make more profits. The globalization of the consumer market has enabled the businesses to reach up to the remotest areas with their adverts through the electronic media. Currently, more organizations are increasing their spending on electronic media adverts since they are guaranteed good returns from such an investment. Electronic media plays a very big role on education and this is geared at shaping the lives of people in the future. The electronic media educates people on how they should handle economic matters of development in their own countries. Electronic media is a distance education platform that is used by many people in improving their knowledge on economic point of view. People are able to conduct online education through use of electronic media and get information on economic development. People have the opportunity to seldom have interactive classes where they can air tri views concerning economic development and learn from other people ideas. Students do online education by use of the electronic media that make it possible for them to use the educational websites that keep them always informed. Students get education at an affordable price through use of electronic media and in turn impact the economic development of their country. Some programs that are aired by the electronic media are educational and impact knowledge to the students who are motivated to cope with educational system that will help improve their knowhow on economic matters. Electronic media help with the provision of educational programs that support economic development among the youths of a country’s who in turn work towards improving their countries economic development (Akel, & Phillips, 2001). Electronic media offers programs where people can be educated on what is required of them in improving the economy of their country, they are taught on how to be hard working and positive towards developmental issues that are important towards improving economic development. Electronic media provides the communication channel that is used to reach much diverse and scattered listening audience who can’t be able to access the television or even the internet. It serves the remote people who are very illiterate and can’t understand any other language apart from their own mother tongue and it communicates messages of economic development to the banner of literacy. Internet is an example of electronic media that can be used as a medium of information that is used by many people in improving their economic development. The internet has an advanced way of organizing all the ideas and economic matters that are carried across the global level. Some leading economic firms are in the front line of using the internet in updating their content and informing people on what they do in their company. Many people across the globe use the internet and they are able to use the internet in getting all the latest information concerning the measures that ought to be taken to ensure economic developments are well facilitated (Manyika,J. & Roxburgh, 2011). The internet has a greater GDP in mature economies and people are able to emulate those economies as they are best in the world. Large enterprises have reaped the benefit of economic growth through the use of internet; since, they get a platform of selling their economic products to people across the globe. Through the use of internet they get more informed on the market grounds to meet clients and even get comments on what need to be improved concerning their economic produce. The electronic media addresses the problem of societal transformation as this has been a barrier towards attaining an improved economic development. When societal problems are solved, the economic development issues are well formulated and this ensures good growth in the whole community. This implies that the society will be organized and systemic efforts will be employed towards attaining a good and an advanced economic development. In most cases, social work addresses the complex and multiple transactions that are dealt with by many people as they are able to develop their full potential and prevent dysfunction that might interfere with their economic perspectives. This is best done through social casework, social group work, and community welfare organizations, which are all advocated for by the media towards attaining a better economy in a country. Despite the positive side of electronic media contributing towards the economic development, it has also met some challenges as well. Electronic media tend to destroy the moral values that are important in terms of improving economic development. Once the morals of the electronic media have been tempered with, then it means that the development in terms of the economy will be reduced as people will not value it anymore. The electronic media as well emphasizes on money matters and this is a slowdown in terms of improving the economic development in a country. The electronic media tend to be omnipresent thus affecting the economic development of the country. This is evident in the way the advertisement is done by the electronic media since they tend to affect the practices people employ for use in the economic development. The electronic media are expensive to acquire and this makes it not reachable by everybody, especially lower income populations. If not properly funded, the programs contained in the electronic media fail to give the economic impact desired (Panth, Cashin, & Bauer, 2008). There is poor management of the media towards contributing to the economic development of a country. The media suffer from obsolete equipment’s that they use in the creation of a positive impact towards the economic development. In conclusion, electronic media has greatly impacted the economic development in several ways. Electronic media is the media constitute of the biggest source of information that people get in their daily lives. The information that is circulated through the electronic media provides valuable information that supports economic activities in different perspectives. Electronic media provides interactive forums that enable people to exchange ideas that are crucial to economic development of their operations.
