Journal Articles Name Institution David Bowie is “David Bowie is” is an exhibition that runs for months in Melbourne, Australia. In 2013, the event ran from 23rd March to 11th August (Cincik, 2013). (Cincik, 2013) Figure 1 a portion of the gallery in the exhibition The event runs daily with various timings. It entails entertainment and music. For example, on Monday to Friday, the event runs from 10 am to 6 pm. The main focus of the event is to showcase various perspective of David’s music, performance, and videos. Among the art pieces are the costumes, handwritten lyrics, stage set designs, and photographs. The artist’s impact as an artist are also offered. The exhibitions entail albums and interviews with collaborators. Face painting and fashion are also inclusive in the event. The organizers have offers for clients and their children. Any child below twelve years enters the event for free and an album (moving image, 2015). One of the event’s strengths is its effective management. The management satisfies the clients needs since the client get a chance to interact intimately with David. To increase the satisfaction, the event managers provide hand written lyrics and original costumes. At the same time, the clients are offered incentives and first-hand interaction with the artist. As risk management, the clients are granted contacts and efficient information online. The clients could request a private group tour by specifying their interest. Acquisition of the tickets is also convenient since tickets are availed online. For the safety of materials, the documental original copies are stored in a frame. On the other hand, the weak areas of the event include lack of flexibility and limited capacity. In the event that a client does not pay before the deadline, there is no plan to ensure he or she gets tickets. (moving image, 2015). The opportunities in the exhibition include collaborating with other events and artists. Fashion designers could use the gallery to showcase their items. To introduce variety, the event could include fashion designers and legendary painters. Threats of the event, on the other hand, include numerous art galleries in Melbourne, which enhances competition in the industry. Refferences Cincik, T. (2013). The race occurs in November every year (Date, 2015).. (Date, 2015) Figure 2 Races at the Flemington On a racing day, local races occur throughout the country. However, the main races are held at the Flemington ranch. The event includes two main races namely horse race and handicap races. In attendance, are over 100,000 people while other people watch from home (Melbourne Cup Day, 2015). Normally, the race begins in the afternoon. The event attracts men and women where the women wear colorful clothing. There exists a VIP tent where drinks and food are served. At the same time, during entertainment, there are fashion designers who show their clothing. The event also attracts international celebrities (Date, 2015). The strength of the event is its effective customer service. The event provides the clients with a variety of activities. Aside from the horseracing, there are bets, fashion competition and handicapped racing (Melbourne Cup Day, 2015). The fashion competition entails women vying for the best dress and hat title at the event. Opportunities at the event could be in fashion. The event could add fashion shows and sale of summer clothing to the program. Similarly, the event managers could add fun activities, such as team building for families. Teenagers could also be allowed to race in the events. Their business would help them avoid alcoholism and drug use on that day. However, the event faces several threats. One is the protesters who label horseracing as cruel (Date,2015). They might interrupt the event violently. The second threat is the indiscipline acts triggered by alcoholism. References Date, T. In 2013, the event occurred on 13th February in New Orleans (Brennan, 2015). Figure 3 Mardi Gras in New Orleans (Brennan, 2015) The event was harmonious and convenient due to the super bowl. Mainly, Mardi Gras entails a combination of bands, parades, and floats. The event was a platform for cultures to celebrate their beauty. Therefore, in 2013, there was a parade celebrating the South African Zulu king. Similarly, mystical societies also celebrate on that day. For example, there was a gay and lesbians masked group. At the same time, the event has a strict dress code, which are costumes and masks. In the event, gifts were also awarded such as bracelets, sweets, trinkets, and lingerie. Also, there are people who host a ball on this day (Brennan, 2015). Mardi Gras’ strengths include timing and creativity. The event happens simultaneously with Super Bowl. Equally, the event invites people to showcase their creativity. The event also promotes unity since it gathers diverse cultures and personalities. Correspondingly, the event unifies people with similar interests. Managers of the event fail on security basis. The event is known to face chaotic people and harassment form different groups. (Brennan, 2015). Opportunities in the event include talent nurturing and creativity display. The event provides a chance for individuals to explore their talents and create unique elements that communicate who they are. The event is also an opportunity for the nearby restaurants and bars to sell for maximum profits. The event is threatened by insecurity. Pickpockets, and petty thieves may take advantage of the crowds (Robertson, 2013). At the same time, people might consume alcohol and become chaotic. Extremists may also take advantage of the event. For example, fanatic religious people may criticize homosexuals. References Brennan, E. (2015). Navigating Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Nytimes.com. The cities include Auckland, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, and Perth. In 2015, the festival was in January (Baidawi, 2015). (Baidawi, 2015) Figure 4 The Laneway Festival The festival's move from city to city with performances from hip-hop and rock artists. Moreover, the festival attracts international artists. Regardless of the weather unpredictability, the festival is still hailed by crowds. The festival is filled with fun activities including foods and drinks. Additionally, the event provides a platform for upcoming artists to perform. Due to the media presence, the artists’ talents are aired in the country. For music lovers, the festival is the ultimate place to experience live music from various singers. Similar to all festivals, the event has foodstuff and drinks. Similarly, people march on laneways in each town (Baidawi, 2015). Strengths of the event include the platform for new artists and fun. The festival provides for the attendees breathtaking entertainment. Similarly, the event pushes performers to deliver the best music due to the available variety. The timetable and requirements are also available online. However, the event has some weaknesses. The tickets are not purchased online, and the festival has age restrictions. As much as the police keep order, there are few incidences of disorderly conduct. Due to the crowd, there are people who lose their items (Schultz, Bache & Jenkin, 2015). The opportunities at the event exist for vendors who could sell their products at the event. To the singers, it is a chance to show their talent and get media exposure. Correspondingly, the event gives job opportunities to surrounding youth. Threats at the function entail alcohol abuse and drug use. Insecurity also lingers due to the crowds (Schultz, Bache & Jenkin, 2015). References Baidawi, A. (2015). St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival. AskMen. Figure 5 The colorful handmade carpets (Guatemala, 2014) The significance of the week is that it commemorates the arrest, crucifixion, and death of Jesus. The week is referred to as the holy week. Residents dedicate time to making colorful carpets and put flowers on the church altar. Mexico City is famous for their unique architecture of churches. The event is characterized by dressing up in purple and black, carrying out certain practices to mimic the death of Jesus, processions and church services. On Thursday of that week, the presiding reverend in the church conducts a service and washes the congregation’s feet to mimic Jesus’ actions before his death. The men wear purple and carry crosses while walking in a procession (Hollander, Vacations, & Churches, 2015). Similarly, women wear black and represent Mary, the mother of Jesus. The flowery carpets are destroyed as passersby encounter them. In other churches, they act the whole event using actors. First, “Jesus” carries a cross and is tied to it after a long walk. On the other hand, Judas is also tied to a tower and beaten as townsmen encounter him. Afterward, believers throw him in the fire. Notably, the event attracts international figures, such as the former president of La Hermanand (Guatemala, 2014). The strength of the event is that it encourages Christianity and promotes unity. The event is a proof of faith in Christ and an upheld tradition. The carpets made by teams help people learn the essence of teamwork. At the same time, the event increases faith since when one carries the cross it is easy to understand the love of Christ to Christians. Weaknesses of the event include its symbolism. The event ought to appreciate the death of Christ and not to mimic it. The opportunity of the event entails attracting international figures, as well as tourists to come and witness it. The threats include the church opposing the practices (Guatemala, 2014). References Guatemala, E. (2014). Antigua Guatemala | Sobre Antigua Guatemala. Aroundantigua.com. However, the event is also celebrated in other countries on various dates (Diwalifestival.org, 2015). (Vyawahare, 2012) Figure 6 A child celebrating Diwali Diwali necessitated various practices including thanking the goddess of wealth and prosperity. Likewise, the event ran for two days. Two days before Diwali, people renovated their offices and homes. To the same effect, people bought new clothes or wore their best clothes. During the season, shopping is a major tradition. To mark the event, people lit candles and lamps. Families gathered for prayers and remembrance of the poor. The families also made a feast to share and exchanged gifts. Notably, sweets are also practiced in Diwali. On the day, children wake up at three am to prepare (Diwalifestival.org, 2015). The merits of the Diwali are the prayer nature and the sharing attitude it provides. Families are united, and make meals for one another. Aside from that, its celebration marks appreciation of God and his ability to provide. The weak area in this festival is its extravagance nature (Diwalifestival.org, 2015). Not only do people spend on renovation houses and offices but also on new clothing and feasts. Sadly, the Diwali does not accommodate all social classes. Opportunities, in this case, include a big sale for boutiques and business for malls and catering services. Threats, include overfeeding and overspending money. People who cannot afford the event may be inconvenienced by the celebrations (Vyawahare, 2012). References Diwalifestival.org,. (2015). (Meares, 2015) Figure 7 Vivid Sydney Outdoor Gallery Vivid Sydney combines art, ideas, and music in the 18-day festival. Each year artists formulate spectacular views of Australia. The event is composed of an outdoor gallery and various art shows in Sydney. In the outdoor gallery, Sydney’s artists install lights and people come to watch. As much as there, another event of its kind, Vivid Sydney is the largest one in the globe (Meares, 2015). In 2015, the Chats wood mall was decorated by an artificial water sculpture that resembled a river. Executives and experts in technology or visual arts, on the other hand, exchange ideas. Different experts in various fields give speeches and their opinions on certain issues. On the same note, the fest also includes music events. Musicians show their talent in this festival. Specifically, operas take place in several halls in the country (Meares, 2015). The strength of Vivid Sydney is that it is unique. There are many galleries in the world but few outdoor galleries. Meanwhile, the event combines main art talents including music, talks and art. The event also unifies experts in several areas (Sydney, 2015). Therefore, the event is not only entertaining but also educative. The event also attracts experts from all over the world. The weakness, However, the event does not have weaknesses (Sydney, 2015). The opportunities are for artists to learn from experts and a room to express creativity. The threats are other cities who ape the same event (Sydney, 2015). References Meares, J. (2015). (McCormick, 2014) Figure 8 Guests At The 87th Academy Awards The essence of this event was to appreciate the best talent in the movie industry. Further, six weeks before the event, nominees are announced in various categories. Some of the categories entail, best actor, series, producer, director, miniseries, comedy and support actors and actresses. In the event, movies and series from the globe are awarded. Numerous celebrities always hail the event. At the same time, the celebrities’ dress codes are analyzed worldwide, so they pay attention to their clothing. The actors enter the event through a red carpet where they are questioned and photographed. Also, every guest gets a gift bag. The celebrities sit in an auditorium, in this case, the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. The event is usually televised worldwide and hosted by standup comedians (Oscar.com, 2015). The strengths of this event entail adequate preparation and space. Similarly, the event maintains punctuality, and they award gift bags (Oscar.com, 2015). The event also plans which is evident from the advance nomination. Risk management is also an issue. the program thrives on viewers so they should increase viewer ratings by increasing entertainment. Of late, the ceremony reduced in ratings and the viewers of the show reduced. Some movies that were nominated did not rate highly in America. On another note, the opportunities in the event entail designers’ displaying their jobs. Before the event, fashion designers should create unique designs and add a costly price tag on them since the event is about showing the best dress. Threats of the show include low ratings and nomination of non-American movies. References McCormick, R. (2014). The 2014 Oscars: all the news on Hollywood's biggest night. The Verge. (Forum, 2015) Figure 9 a speaker at the event The event attracts tourism experts to speak at the forum. First, one is required to register in a group or as individuals. The main purpose of this event is to gather the tourist experts and propose cohesion strategies for America. In its foundation, the organization aimed at improving the American States’ relations in tourism. Upon accessing their website, an individual could opt to pay online to participate. At the same time, the site informs the clients on terms and conditions. At the same time, the website offers a client refund in case of a mishap. Moreover, the organization encourages group participation by clarifying the rates. Some of the organization sponsors and partners include the Best Western hotel and ADARA. Clearly, the event considers the security of the client’s money. This is evident when they offer a refund. Similarly, the organization collaborated with a hotel to minimize the clients spending. The forum is also educative and helpful to the country. Their main purpose is to unify tourism in America. However, the information about the organization online is ambiguous. Opportunities, in this case, include tourism improvement in America. Conversely, the threat of the event is competition from similar organizations (Forum, 2015). References Forum, F. (2015). In 2014, the event was at the Lawrence Hall on 20th to 22nd October. In both days, the events run from ten to five am(Hall, 2015). (Hall, 2015) Figure 10 The Shades Of Autumn Show The event is a combination of art and horticulture. Designers and artists use botany to create unique plants and moldings. (Hall, 2015) The aim of the event was to celebrate the various colors of autumn. The event also uses the platform to introduce inspiring plant ideas to the public. Further, the event contains competition and display of judged material. In the gallery, there are photographs and displays for sale. The event also had a flower arrangement workshop. At the same time, the event has gardening advice for farmers. Lastly, the event has floral exhibits(Rhs.org.uk, 2015). Shades of Autumn provides uniqueness and entertainment to all its clients. In the same way, the event offers educational information. The judged art would be a source of correction while the workshop would enable them exchange ideas. The experience, however, runs for two days only. The opportunities in the event include adding variety of products at the sale. Threats are similar galleries that occur at the same time in London (Rhs.org.uk, 2015). References Hall, R. (2015). RHS London Shades of Autumn Show Westminster Tickets - ATG Tickets. Atgtickets.com.
