There are three important types of simulation training as practiced in civil and military training today and they are 'live' simulation, 'virtual' simulation, and 'constructive' simulation. The simulation training methods are closely related to the three learning theories as behaviorism, cognitivism, and constructivism.

In fact, the future application of these theoretical methods of training is more stimulating and the principles of the learning theories are useful in improving training that makes use of advanced simulation techniques. The relationship between learning theory and simulation training is apparent and the advancement in simulation training can enhance its application in aviation training.
