The effects of the disaster left a wake of injured, the aftermath creating the spread of disease and poverty that left many hungry. The medical response to this disaster was better than in the 1995 earthquake; however improvements are still required to address future issues that nature will through at the nation of Japan. This paper will discuss the past of medical care in Japan and the present. The investigation will discuss the way in which medical culture and climate has an effect on how services are provided. In addition, through social research paradigms, this paper will investigate the way in which the disaster system has evolved to support the needs of survivors of a disaster in Japan.
