In general, the concepts exhaust all the factors that may affect the field of nursing. This is made possible by four way categorical division of issues that affect the field. Each concept is divided into sections that address the problems that may affect the metaparadigm. The four concepts are (Keating, 2011);
Keating (2011) is of the assumption that the concepts cover the nursing field extensively in terms of providing recommendations to tackle basic nursing problems. Moreover, the issue in nursing cannot be prevented without putting them in functional categories of problem solving. For instance, it may be a hectic task to tackle the issue affects the concept of environment under the same provisions in the concept of health.
This metaparadigm focuses on the challenges and issue that affect the patients in regards to service delivery. Across the field, service delivery to customer is created by the ability of a practitioner to embrace the requirements by the patient population. However, the concept seeks to understand the appropriateness of client demands. In an argument by Keith (2008) the human nature in nursing is considered under physiology, psychology, cultural, spiritual and social perceptions. The five provisions ensure service delivery is obtained without the creation of conflict with patients social affiliations. For instance, it is an obvious assumption that different social and cultural affiliations have specific social preferences. Considering the cultural depth in the modern society, a medical practitioner should be able to deal with the challenges presented by these social preferences. Health care forms the epicenter and mechanism of human survival and well being in the contemporary world. In that case, countries and governments have instituted professional courses that seek to educate particular students on issues regarding health care so that they can help in sustaining the wellbeing and survival of the general populace.
Nursing to me is an occupation that includes individuals trained to offer nursing care services with due regard to respect, integrity, dignity, and compassion. As a calling, I believe that nursing has everything to do with helping those in need irrespective of their status in society, religious affiliations, or health conditions.
My philosophy also involves understanding the meta paradigm concepts of the nursing profession. These are areas of concern to the profession and these calls for proper understanding of the following concepts.
The other goal is to make the patient learn to live in a way that will facilitate his recovery, while the next goal is to facilitate increase of tolerance of patients to their daily activity. There are also some long-term goals that the nurses are focused on achieving in terms of treating the patient.
This paradigm came about as a result of the realization that all people are unique and autonomous and deserve a very high level of treatment that ensures that they receive the best of care. With the understanding that the paradigms refer to a generalized concept in nursing practice, the patient can best be likened to a customer of a supermarket, whose input into the supermarket through purchases made determines the level of profit that the supermarket will make.
Fu-Jin Shih et. Al (2006) stated that 'humanity as demonstrated by empathic and respectful attitudes' is one of the core values of Nursing. Nursing also calls for advice being offered to the relatives and friends of the patients. Nursing is a science as it requires studying the medical practices and science, but it's an art as well because working with different types of people requires an attitude of understanding the feelings and compassion.
Ida Jean Orlando determined that there were three steps in the nursing process. These steps after much observation of patients, nurses and medical records became a major concept in her theory, The Dynamic Nurse-Patient Relationship which she coined in 1972. Her theory is seen somewhat differently by different researchers and theororists.
Along with that an important function of community health nurse is to involve family members in care if aged instead of neglecting them and to help aged to live a confident, healthy life.
