Art is the use of skills, abilities, or imagination to create something unique and exclusive. Art means to do something rare in a professional way. Every artist has his own way to perceive different aspects of nature. It is an inborn ability of an artist to present nature in the form of meaningful and attractive paintings. A good painting attracts many people and proves to be a source of inspiration not only for the viewers but also for the artist. People admire the artist if they like his paintings, which is the most valuable reward for an artist. A good painting draws the attention of people by providing them with a new sense of imagination. A good artistic work is able to evoke emotions in those who view it. The world consists of many colors, which are combined with the humans’ relationships by the artists to create a beautiful piece of art. There exist such names in the history of arts whose works prove to be a source of inspiration for all of us. One such name is Leonardo Da Vinci, an Italian painter and engineer, who lived during the time of early renaissance. Da Vinci created many masterpieces of arts throughout his life. He was mainly known for his paintings. Some of the most outstanding works by Da Vinci include The Last Supper, Vitruvian Man, Annuciation, Ginevra de Benci, and Mona Lisa. In this paper, we will describe Mona Lisa in detail, which is one of the most renowned works by Da Vinci. Mona Lisa The portrait of Mona Lisa is an oil painting drawn on wood. Da Vinci created this portrait in the 16th century. Mona Lisa is one of the most famous paintings of all times. Mona Lisa holds all qualities of a remarkable painting. These qualities include attractiveness, meaning, skills, uniqueness, and fulfilled intent. These qualities make a painting better understood by the people. It is one of the distinguishing qualities of this portrait that everyone praises it without having much information about this portrait. If we talk about the most important criterion that is used to judge a painting, we can say that it is beauty or attractiveness of a painting that makes it attract a large number of people towards it. Beauty of a painting reflects the mind of the painter. A painter reflects the beauty of his mind on a sheet of paper, which is then admired by the public. A painter communicates his thoughts to the public in the form of a beautiful painting. Mona Lisa’s fame is evident from the fact that every year almost six million visitors from different countries come to the Musée du Louvre in Paris to see the great portrait of Mona Lisa. Employing all qualities of a great painting, Mona Lisa is still one of the most admired paintings of the present era. The hidden mysteries behind the smile of Mona Lisa have been a debatable issue for the last four centuries and a multitude of theories have been tried to reveal the reality of Mona Lisa. Some theories suggest that Da Vinci was the family painter for the Duke of Milan and got a chance to make a portrait of a woman belonging to the Duke of Milan. Some recent thoughts regarding the portrait suggest that Mona Lisa is a feminine version of Da Vinci himself and he created his own portrait. These thoughts are based on the similarity between the faces of Da Vinci and Mona Lisa. Scholars believe that the facial expressions of both Da Vinci and Mona Lisa are similar to each other. Apart from the hidden mystery behind the smile of Mona Lisa, her smile has been greatly admired by the people of all times. She has an enigmatic smile, which is a point of concern for many people. Although many researches have been done on the hidden mystery behind the smile of Mona Lisa, yet the mystery is not clear to anyone. The portrait of Mona Lisa is a little blurred that leaves its interpretation up to the minds of the viewers. Mona Lisa is a source of inspiration for many people as it reflects the feelings of peace, love, and sincerity. Another thing to be noted in the portrait is that of very minute show of cleavage, which adds to the beauty of the portrait. The black shaded dress and open hair provides a sense of graciousness to the viewers. The eyes of Mona Lisa are so much attractive that a person watching the portrait feels the sparkle and dynamism in the eyes of Mona Lisa and cannot hold himself back from staring at those beautiful eyes. The smile of Mona Lisa is the main key factor behind the success of the portrait. The upturn on the left side of Mona Lisa’s mouth indicate that the women of that time used to smile with one side of their mouths in order to add more elegance to their smile. A closer and magnified look at the eyebrows of Mona Lisa suggests that the women of that time used to shave off their eyebrows. Talking about the portrait, we must also say that blurred scenery behind Mona Lisa reveals the sense of nature in the portrait. Da Vinci has made use of brilliant strokes of paintbrush, which add to the glamour, beauty, and magnificence of the portrait. Conclusion Da Vinci’s masterpiece, Mona Lisa, is not only a beautifully painted piece of art but also it provides an ultimate example of skillful artistry to the people of all ages. The style of the woman shown in the painting certainly makes an impact on all of us. The grace, beauty, and style of the portrait make it one of the most remarkable portraits created by Da Vinci. The smile of Mona Lisa has been a point of concern for many scholars for many years. A lot of people have tried to discover the hidden mystery behind the smile of Mona Lisa but no one has come up with a fact based opinion regarding the smile.
