Argumentative Essay – Can “an eye for an eye” be morally justified? Is there such a thing as a justified killing? Is all murder morally wrong? There is no logic for justified killing in this world. Killing someone is a very heinous act and does not come under the realms of moral or immoral discussions. It is something that creates anarchy within this world as the entire humanity is affected by the same. It is a fact that killing can never be justified and this has been the viewpoint of many others throughout the world as well. There are some people who would hate individuals but no one will ever talk about killing someone. The justification for killing someone is unheard of and yet to be found. Still there are individuals in this world who would go to any extent to kill people for the sake of money, property or factors that deal with poverty, misery and grief. This paper is an argumentative essay which suggests that there is no such thing as a justified killing and that it is immoral to murder someone. I have a very definite opinion on this matter and I shall not change it for anyone or to come up to someone else’s expectations. I support my opinion through different beliefs and facts which I manifest on a day to day basis and this has been ably detailed within the length of this discourse. Beginning with the premise that killing someone is a barbaric act solves nearly half the problems. But then again, this has to be comprehended in due course of time and through different events. An eye for an eye will actually make the entire world blind and this globe would be filled with disabled people all round. Hence an eye for an eye concept simply nosedives for obvious reasons. When people start killing each other, the entire society comes to a standstill. There are families which lose out on their loved ones and then there are individuals who suffer because they have started missing a near and dear one within their lives. There is so much trouble happening within the world of today that it is next to impossible to fathom what exactly is going about. The people are fighting amongst themselves and thus killing each other because they feel this is the best way to find solace. I am vehemently against this dictum because it spells out negativity from the very outset of these nuances. There are individuals who will go all out in even a small dispute or moment of disparity. They will do everything to get their message heard and make their own selves the much cherished winners. This, according to them, can only be done through killing the opponent – an act that is not only unacceptable but also barbaric in the sheerest sense. It makes life miserable for just about everyone within the society and gives a whole new meaning to the philosophy of living and letting others live as well. When someone kills an individual, he must think about the victim’s family first. If only he can understand that there is an entire support system which will come to an end with this killing, the killer might just abstain from such domains. But then again, we see that killings are happening almost daily across the world. This is the basis of knowing that sanity is absent from the face of this earth and that too for a number of wrong reasons. When people realize that they have to kill others in order to be termed as the winners within a situation or circumstance, then this is the basis of anarchy that has been coming about for some time. The elder statesmen of the society have got a huge role under such ranks and this need to be comprehended properly in order to bring sanity within the related ranks. The role of the society is a bigger one within such equations. It is because the society’s elders have to decide the right and the wrong from the very beginning. They must inculcate proper value systems and hierarchies to assure that the individuals within it do not get strayed. Killing someone must not cross their mind and they must at all times, believe in dialogue and conversation because these are significant ingredients of any society of the world. Murdering would never be seen as a resort to tackle an issue which has just come up for no reason. In fact, it can never be seen as a solution to anything and I have meticulously always raised my voice against this malpractice of the society. On the same token, killing someone should mean that the murderer be taken to task in the most uncompromising way that there could ever be. This would be the basis of gaining an insight that murders do not solve issues, yet make them magnanimous in the sheerest sense. It would be fair to contemplate the discourse that killings essentially highlight the negative aspects that emanate from any society of the world. I have time and again suggested to people around me that this is not the solution to a fight or rift which eventually culminated in the form of slaying. I have decided for my own self that killing would never resolve an issue because it is something that leaves a very bad scar in the hearts of the people. It makes them feel discontented with who they are and what they have not been able to give back to this world. It is indeed a lose-lose situation for the people because they hardly know what happened to their near and dear ones, and what exactly culminated in the form of the killing which took place within their family regimes. It is essentially a very sad tale for the people who have suffered on most counts due to killings and murders which are taking place almost on a daily basis now, around the world. There is no one to look after their needs and requirements, and they are left at the mercy of the society which is nothing short of being deadly more than anything else. I support my beliefs through being a part of the demonstrations and protests which are held on the streets every now and then against the barbaric acts committed by the governments of different countries. I make my voice get heard to the public so that they can become aware of the anomalies which mar the system of human beings killing each other for the sake of attaining some form of supremacy in a given amount of time. I support my viewpoints by being clear in my head so that the approach is broad and there are not any distractions to haunt me as such. This is the basis of finding out where I am going wrong and what corrective steps I need to take from time to time. Factually speaking, my perspective is based on logic and I make sure that I ask for reasons on a consistent basis. My beliefs are supported by my friends and family members as I often discuss such domains with them to be sure that I am on the right track. They tell me that my stance is filled with logical reasoning and banks on the goodwill of all human beings. I am proud to be an individual who supports the right thing and goes against the wrongdoings of the people, a community of individuals or the government of a country for that matter. This is the eventual basis that provides me satisfaction more than anything else. My stance is very balanced right from the outset of things and gives me the perfect platform to explore new things and items that are important to me. Killing someone is never appreciated by anyone and I am just not an exception to this philosophy that is held by people all over the world. Hence there is absolutely no justification for killing someone out of the blue. It is a heinous act to begin with and shall be disapproved of by all and sundry. It would be wise to suggest that inhuman behaviors do come about when there is anarchy within any society of the world and for a sane government; it is always a good point to keep away such measures for the betterment of the people at large (Buchanan, 2000). This will resolve quite a few issues and tackle the ones which might come about in the coming times. My belief with regards to murders and killings will never change no matter what happens. I will always be against such practices which have started to become common in this day and age. I will always stand up to the wrongdoings that are taking place within any society of the world and not just my side of the globe. This is the reason why my beliefs are usually appreciated by people from different walks of life. They understand that I am talking sense and my viewpoint holds a great amount of ground for them. I am proud of my viewpoint because it tells me the difference between a human being and an animal. In the end, it would be sound to state that all murder is morally wrong from the outset of such discussions. This will be the basis of understanding the marked variations between a human being and one who is not. I am quite sure of who I am and this is the reason why my beliefs and comprehensions are in line with the same dictum. It is therefore imperative upon mankind that it concentrates wholly and solely on letting others live as well as living for their own selves. This shall solve quite a few predicaments that take place within this world today. I am confident that if people are educated enough to know the difference between right and wrong, sane and insane ethically correct and morally wrong – then there would be fewer issues in this world. One can easily witness sanity to come about in full circle and that too without much hassle. All said and done, this discussion comprised of a number of aspects, all of which are linked with the premise of life and death. Even though life is beautiful, death is not so and hence should be avoided in the sheerest sense possible. The different shades of life should be understood properly before delving deep into the tyranny of death. This shall bring an end to the immense disparities that exist in this day and age once and for all. Works Cited Buchanan, Alec.
