Sur Supervisor War against ISIS Introduction ISIS (the Islamic of Iraq and Syria) is the most dreaded terrorist outfit that has surfaced in recent times. Many political analysts describe its origin in Al Qaida; however, most believes that ISIS fosters hidden motives that it wants to achieve through its cruel and dreadful means. ISIS has declared a war against the US. ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is more threatening than al-Qaida as is clearly evident from its operations. ISIS has not only become a big threat to the US but also a big blot on humanity. ISIS needs to be finished;otherwise, the whole humanity will be in peril. The paper aims at understanding the ISIS outfit and explores three most crucial reasons for the US to wage a war against ISIS in the ensuing paragraphs. Understanding ISIS Resurgence ISIS recent resurgence is said to be in the age-old conflict between Sunnis and Shias. Though the ideological differences between them go back to the time of the demise of Prophet Mohammed, yet the current militancy has nothing to do with that. Saddam Hussein himself was a Sunni. When the US left Iraq a few years after restoring normalcy, the democratic government that came into power had a majority of Shias. Not satisfied with the change, Sunnis began defying the rule of this newly-elected democratic government and organizing themselves under the banner of ISIS. Their motive is simply not only to topple the current government but it goes much beyond that include establishing a caliphate-based Islamic rule across the region that encompasses even Pakistan and India. Beheading Foreign Nationals through Dreadful Means Their motives, ways and means are clearly evident in the last few months of their operations. ISIS brutalities are unparalleled and extremely dreadful that can be seen in the recent history. ISIS systematically hunts members of the other religious and ethnic groups that include Christians, Shabak, Faili Kurds, Yezidi, Sabaeans, Turkmen, Arab Shia (Al Arabia News). Women are raped and enslaved. Young girls are taken custody for sexual abuse. They not only loot banks but demand ransom for their operations. Teenagers are recruited in their army and trained to operate AK-47 rifles. Children are used as suicide bombers. Numerous soldiers of the Syrian army were beheaded outside the northern Syrian city of Raqqa a few months back. They carried out a gruesome massacre in Tikrit killing at least 700 men by letting them lie in trenches and hands completely tied to their backs. In and around Jdali, over 60 people were rounded up and shot dead; at least 650 men were executed in Mosul, and 1700 people were executed in Tikrit in between June and August (ISIS Atrocities). As per United Nations latest report, ISIS has massacred tens of thousands of people of differing ethnic culture and origin across Syria and Iraq (Al Arabia News). ISIS did not spare even media reporters. They Media and News reporters such as James Foley, Steven Sotloff were beheaded a few months back with their video released on the net is extremely gruesome act that cannot be pardoned (Callimachi). With these acts, ISIS has challenged the US to be ready for dire consequences if it does not stop interfering in their operations. This time the US has been challenged by a rogue group that does not care for human values. The US must protect its people by taking up the challenge and wage a full-fledged war against ISIS until they are finished. Risk to Controlling Nuclear Arsenal at Pakistan ISIS has been so far successful in taking over a large part of Iraq and Syria. It aims at capturing entire Iraq and other neighboring countries. In fact, everyone who does not fall in their fold is their enemy. It is also true that it has highly ambitious plans of taking over Pakistan. Mujeeb Ahmed from NBC News reports, “ISIS has created a 10-man strategic planning wing with a master plan on how to wage war against the Pakistani military, and is trying to join forces with local militants” (Ahmed). It is a known fact that at least half a dozen militant groups are already active in Pakistan either owing allegiance or sympathetic towards ISIS. It is important to remember that Pakistan is a Sunni state and Shias are in minority. In the neighboring state of Afghanistan, Talibanis, a powerful orthodox militant group in the country, are already active for the last over two decades and aim at establishing Sharia-based rule in Afghanistan. ISIS is attempting to consolidate all militant groups on one platform so that their combined strength can take on Pakistani regime and defeat Pakistani army. It is also a fact that most militant groups in Pakistan are not only sympathetic to ISIS but ready to collaborate with them for their own individual motives as all of them have a common ambition to establish a caliphate-based regime. One must remember that Pakistan is a nuclear state and they have already developed short- to long- range missiles that are capable of making nuclear attacks. And if these nuclear arsenals fall in control of ISIS then one can imagine what will happen to entire humanity. It is certain that ISIS will use these nuclear arsenals against its enemies including the US. And then it is likely that the entire planet may suffer. Consequences of ISIS success will be catastrophic for the mankind. Even those who survive will have a pyrrhic victory for it will result into an uninhabitable earth for decades. Tough lessons have already been drawn from Hiroshima and Nagasaki incidents during World War II and that is why all rightful countries have agreed to follow a sane nuclear policy for peaceful purposes. ISIS is a real threat now who will make desperate attempts to take over Pakistan and its nuclear arsenal to fulfill its ulterior motives. The US must stop and finish them at all cost to safeguard entire humanity. Corrupting Young Minds to Spread Militancy ISIS has now become a much bigger threat than what Al Qaida was, a few years back. It is noteworthy that over 12,000 foreign nationals have attracted to ISIS from several countries that include Germany, UK, and India to fight under ISISs black banner (Kitfield). This is indicative that militancy is fast spreading across the world. ISIS is making use of technology and social media to attracting young boys of age below 25 and corrupting their minds to fight for Jihad. This is certainly dangerous for the entire world in general and especially for the US because tens of thousands of foreign nationals including Muslims study, stays and earn their livelihood in the US. ISIS is attempting to influence the young minds to their advantage to wage a war against those who refuse to fall in their line. Conclusion It is now amply clear that ISIS is a dreaded terrorist organization that is out to topple democratically-elected government of Iraq. It does not believe in the rule of law, democratic institutions, and does not care for human values. It does not bear tolerance towards other religious groups and does not bother about dignity of women. It corrupts minds of children and trains them to wage jihad against other religious groups. It is a rogue terrorist group that does not want others to live peacefully. Its survival, success or expansion is likely to put the whole humanity in danger if its plans are successful in capturing Pakistan. In short, there is a strong case that not only the US but all like-minded countries who believe in the rule of law and humanitarian values must collaborate and mobilize resources to wage a war against ISIS to finish them in their turf.
