TOPIC: The impact of Brexit on EU employees’ recruitment and retention. A case of Polish employees in the United Kingdom.

PURPOSE: The withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the EU has many impacts on the way of life. Since this is still a process under development, some results have not yet been felt in different aspects of life. On the other hand, effects regarding social-economic relationships are broadly discussed in many forums. This dissertation's primary purpose is to shed more light on the impact of Brexit on EU employees’ recruitment retention. The thesis will pay more attention to Polish employees in the United Kingdom.

METHODOLOGY AND APPROACH: The dissertation will adopt a discursive and comparative approach to analyze how the United Kingdom's decision to exit the EU will impact human resource management practices. Notably, the dissertation will look at the impact of Brexit on the recruitment and retention of Polish employees in the UK. The information in this dissertation will be drawn from various employees resourcing literature that was available during the development of the thesis. In addition to that, the development of this article will be guided by the results that were obtained from various qualitative interviews that were administered to specific volunteers. The dissertation will provide a background for future studies regarding the future of diverse human resources practices in the UK due to Brexit.

THEORY: the research approach is interpretivist. Therefore, the grounded theory will be used in data analysis.

FINDINGS: This dissertation is mainly focused on the movement of the labor force due to Brexit. One clear impact of Brexit is the migration of Polish nationals from the EU nations. Due to various migration laws, the flow of talent will be restricted due to migration restrictions. With the movement of labor, both skilled and non-skilled labor, different gaps are presented in Human Resource Management, about recruitment and retention of Polish nationals in the UK. To satisfy the various employment requirements, businesses will have to look at many restrictions that limit workforces at different levels.

SIGNIFICANCE: This dissertation sheds light on a topic that has been overlooked during the assessment of the economic impacts of Brexit. Employees' retention and recruitment define the future of a lot of life in the UK and other EU nations. It is, therefore, necessary to equip the affected people with the right information about this topic. This dissertation's research also opens up opportunities for further studies to elaborate more on the subject of the research and other aspects of life associated with the research topic.

  • INTRODUCTION.

Brexit in this dissertation will be referred to as the United Kingdom referendum to leave the European Union. Brexit is a crucial turn over that impacted various aspects of life for many nations. The entire operation has greatly affected human resource management in multiple ways. The process has also resulted in strict migration and employments constraints of EU nationals living in the UK. In this article, the main interest has been given to Polish employees residing in the UK. The future of such individuals has dramatically been affected by Brexit regarding the perception of job recruitment and retention.

There are a lot of changes that will be brought about by Brexit. One of the enormous changes that will result from Brexit is Employment Relations and Labor law in the United Kingdom. The changes will affect how, initially, the workforce was populated by skilled and non-skilled labor distributed across the nations that made up the EU. With the exit of the UK from the EU, there is a gap that will be created by the migration of the task force. Interestingly, some of the EU nationals in the UK drives some of the essential operations that lead to the growth of their economy. With the various migration and employment laws, the UK's economy will be significantly affected by the Brexit referendum in 2016.

The recruitment, as well as the selection of employees in the UK, mostly for Polish nationals, will be significantly affected by Brexit. This dissertation will provide a well-grounded discussion of the future implications of Polish employees working in British organizations. This is accomplished by focusing on the impacts of Brexit on the economy, the effects on various employees' rights as well as the prejudice of EU employees that are working in the UK. As mentioned earlier, this paper will mostly concentrate on two main aspects of human resource management namely employees' recruitment and retention and how the two elements will be affected by Brexit. The possible outcomes that are discussed in this paper have the potential to change the future of employment in the United Kingdom. The uncertainties that revolve around the two aspects will also be considered in the dissertation in relationship to Brexit.

Brexit has availed various options for Poland nationals that are working in the UK. Each of these options will define the work situation of Polish workers and workers from other EU nations. In the same way, Brexit will bring about new employees' rights and policies to determine the work experience of such workers. The possible outcome of the Brexit on work relations will be determined by the workers' decisions whether to continue working in the UK, change their work, or stop working and leave the UK. Each choice will have a significant impact on the UK workforce and will define the recruitment and retention of such workers. These options are well addressed in the questionnaires that were administered to various Polish workers in the UK.

The dissertation has been arranged in a systematic structure that will facilitate the flow of ideas and insights from the discussions presented. All the data and information that is presented in this dissertation was recorded as it was received from various resources. None of it has been changed or modified to fit the main research questions. The development of this dissertation has been dramatically focused on information that was recorded in previous researches regarding the research topic. However, the information obtained from various resources was shallow and did not have the specific information required to satisfy the study. Therefore, the broad analysis was carried out to shed more light on the research topics. Various resources provided useful insights that could not be highlighted in this section. However, the chapter will mainly focus on the main articles that helped in the development of the dissertation.

One of the essential aspects that are closely related to our research is Euroscepticism. Euroscepticism has been much discussed in many articles and the various impacts on various aspects of life. People living in the British are primarily affected by Euroscepticism.
