? Personality Characteristics PERSONALITY CHARACTERISTICS In the field of psychology, psychologists have factored Five Factors Model (FFM) as the broad domain of defining an individual’s personality or the domain defining human personality. This model has become the most renowned form of describing human trait and usually, it is referred to as the Big Five personality traits. This form of human characterizing emerged in 1992 from Costa and McCrea. They have helped in understanding the personality in relation to varied academic behaviors. The Five Factors Model includes conscientiousness, openness, agreeableness, extraversion, and neuroticism. These traits have just been generalized; otherwise, there are numerous human character traits that may be used to define an individuality or personality. The essay shall discuss three of the five including conscientiousness, openness, and extraversion that form part of my personalities. Conscientiousness may be defined by traits including discipline, achievement-oriented, and organized. Neuroticism is usually regarded as the degree of emotional stability, anxiety, and impulse control. On the other hand, extraversion is often displayed through intense sociability, talkativeness, and assertiveness (Gerald and Matthews, 2003). Openness is a strong intellectual curiosity. It can as well be demonstrated through a strong preference for variety and variety. Lastly, the personality of agreeableness may have the definition or in-cooperates the traits including being cooperative, helpful, and sympathetic to others (Floyd and Allport, 1961). There are some evidences that motivation and personality are intricately linked to the difference within individuals in learning styles. Some recommendations have it educators sometimes stretch beyond the current emphasis based on cognition that includes variables of understanding human, academic behavior (Witt, 2009). The low pole or the emotional stability sometimes governs the factors that determine an individual’s neuroticism factors. However, there has ever been a disagreement on the interpretation of the openness factors that are usually regarded to be more of intellect interpretation rather than experience. In considering each factor, there are clusters of correlated traits. For instance, extraversion correlates to qualities that are found within gregariousness, excitement seeking, assertiveness, warmth, activity, as well as positive emotions (Floyd and Allport, 1961). Early Development There are numerous traits that an individual can develop at once. During growth and development, people pass through different experiences due (King, 1961) to ever changing personalities around them. People tend to lead life out of the experience they had once undergone. Individuals develop the personality of openness due to their appreciation for art that might lead them to human traits that include being emotional, developing the urge of ever developing new or unusual ideas, curious (Gerald and Matthews, 2003). Such people are regarded to open to experience; thus, they are intellectually curious, sensitive to beauty, and appreciative. In most cases, such people will intend to be honored and compared a given set of people that are more aware of their personal feelings and more creative (Witt, 2009). Most of these experiences are influential to humanity at an early stage of life. For instance, as a kind nobody could predict what my personality could be defined or attached to, since the ever changing life experienced changed my personality almost on a daily basis. Curiosity made me change like a chameleon since I wanted to taste what life had to offer and choose the best from the variety (King, 1961). The comment people make for every little thing I did was very essential part of my life. Basically, an individual’s personality can never be defined at his or her tender age (Floyd and Allport, 1961). At an early age, a person wants to attain this state, and, at the same time since a lot of curiosity, is within ones conscience, and at this stage in life an individual’s life is like adventure in the forest. Additionally, children tend to hold unconventional beliefs. Notably, they often need or prefer plain, obvious, and straightforward traits to learn from, unlike complex, subtle, and ambiguous human traits. More often, children regard science and art with a lot of suspicion or sometimes view them as uninteresting endeavors (King, 1961). Family and Social Relationships The family is the backbone of an individual, and it is from the same family that an individual can bear good or bad social traits (Gerald and Matthews, 2003). However, some people do learn much from within their family setting but incorporate other traits that are much distinct from those of the family members or family teachings. Regarding the family set up, as people grow up into adult age, they intend to have self conscientiousness by showing self discipline, becoming industrious or achieving outside expectation or against measures, and sometimes acting dutifully. More often than not, the family usually control or regulates and direct the impulses of the family members (Witt, 2009). Because of such great influences, families usually instill given character trait of personality in a person. For instance, my family has made me God fearing. As stated in the bible, proverbs, that parent should teach their children the good ways, and they (children) shall never depart from them even in their old ages. It is the parents and norms that are within a given family setup that determines whether individuals from such families are disciplined or not. The nature of the family may make a person be industrious or to be totally lazy (King, 1961). Certain children from poor families tend work very hard to achieve in life than certain in well off families. Nonetheless, certain people from well off families also tend to work extremely hard to maintain their families’ statuesque (Gerald and Matthews, 2003). Personally, I have the two different life experiences, and this is where theory concurs with reality in life. At my tender age, we were as well taught the values of being industrious and discipline. Individual who work hard and are equally disciplined tend to have many social networks than those people who do not have respect for others. Personally, I have very many friends because I hear the elderly comment that I am disciplined (Witt, 2009). Nonetheless, it is the family that shapes an individual’s life, especially with regards to interaction with other people outside the family setting. Educational Background The education background is only essential to post education or acquired personality. However, pre-education personality may greatly influence an individual’s personal, career choice. Persons with extraversion personality are ever (King, 1961) regarded as having positive emotions, and tendency of seeking out stimulation as well as being in the company of others. This trait is denoted by the individual’s exposure and pronounced engagement with the world around them. This personality makes individuals enjoy the company of others as they are perceived to have full energy (Gerald and Matthews, 2003). This group of persons is ever enthusiastic and action oriented. They are ever likely to say “Let’s do it!” or “Yes” for the exciting opportunities. Such people are few, and they tend to join politics or become managers of organizations due to their great influence. Notably, such individuals are assertive and usually draw attention of others towards themselves.
