My research on racism will help me in my career because I will be able to interact with many different people and learn a lot from them. I will be able to appreciate people’s different ways of life and thus create unity and encourage mutual respect. The Centre for Healing Racism is an organization that started when a group of individuals met in Texas and Huston to discuss the impact of racism. The group emphasized mainly establishing ways to abolish racism, healing, and personal growth. The group believed that oneness and humanity were violated by racism. To address this, weekend workshops and dialogues were established. This would go a long way in informing and overcoming racial tension and prejudices.

The Centre for Healing Racism started as a grassroots organization. The group grew and members were more involved in studying and equipping themselves with the skills and knowledge necessary for them to reach out to the wider society. It was on November 17, 1992, that the articles of incorporation were approved. It is currently under a board of directors and its programs are managed by experienced managers. Through the healing of racism education and empowerment of the people, the Huston, Texas-based non-profit organization is dedicated to improving the people’s livelihood. The organization is determined in bringing people of all ethnicities together towards healing from the damage of racism.

The core belief of the organization is to unlearn the behavior of racism that has been learned over the years. The major difference between the Centre for Healing Racism and other non-profit organizations is that it is a healing organization and its main aim is ensuring that there is total abolishment of racism in society instead people embrace unity and togetherness with mutual respect existing among individuals and the society. The organization's service to society has its basis in education. First, society is educated on racism and its effects, then a process to counter the effects of racism is established, to help individuals change from their past behaviors’ and are empowered to interrupt the Racism attitudes and the cycles.

Children all over Huston and throughout the nation get counseling for the effects of bullying. All this arises from negligence, ignorance, and misunderstanding. The workshop is pushed at helping people understand the physical and psychological damage done to children.
