Nature explains the inheritance of physical and mental skills while nurture explicates the role of the environment in developing the inherited genes. Cognitive development in childhood is quite different from the infancy one as it involves the development of a child’s information processing, language learning, perceptual skills, and conceptualization of resources.

Social and emotional developments are other significant elements in the study of human growth. The social and emotional development in infants advances with the relationship between them and their surrounding environment. However, this aspect changes at the childhood stage as the child is able to adapt to a change of environment. The child tends to manage personal feelings as well as understand other people’s feelings. He or she is able to interact positively with other people.
