Business: Disadvantages of spanking kids Children are known to be joy of many families as they are the bond between the spouses. Other persons perceive children as not a blessing but sources of problems and as a result some end up being mistreated or even abandoned. Children must be taught in a certain direction to have some moral values and this could include acceptable or moderate caning among other sort of punishments. A child tends to follow the norms and the characters he or she learn from the seniors and it is there for important to portray only the accepted characters. Some parents or senior opt to spank their children as corrective measures and this created a heated debate in the society. Spanking is the act of hitting the bottom of a child with an open hand. Majority of parents tend to spontaneously spank their children whenever they are not satisfied with the children’s behavior and this is not right as per several psychologists and early childhood development experts among others. This discourse is about the negatives associated with child spank. Over the last thirty years, researches on parenting and early child development have proven that kids whose parents used spanking as way of correction tend to be emotionally unstable, even as they grow up. Such kids are likely to bully their peers or get irritated easily (Berlin, Ispa, Fine, et al. 2009). These kids are likely to be rebellious as they tend to invent their own identities other than their childhood life that was full of frustrations inflicted by activities like spanking and child molestation among others. Dr. Elizabeth Gershoff, conducted a research, twenty years and concluded that children who were spanked tend to have low gray matter in their brains and this make them vulnerable to depression, drug abuse, anxiety and aggression among other undesirables as they advance. The doctor further explained that spanking is sudden or spontaneous and the children tend to shy away from adults as they think they could be spanked any time (Gershoff, 2002). The doctor further explains that there is nothing wrong with disciplining kids but they have to be prepared psychologically. It is important to enable the kid understand his or her mistake before engaging the corporal punishment, otherwise the kid will not take as a corrective measure but as away adults or parents express their anger, dissatisfaction and hatred among others. Such kids may grow knowing there is nothing good in them, and that is where depression and drug abuse comes about. Spanking is addictive, and parents never stop this habits and repeated corporal punishment leads to other undesirable like mental illness, compromised child-parent relationships and increased aggression rates among others. A study conducted by Tulane University on parenting reveals that every normal parent would want the best for their kids and spanking is not even close. However, some parents are faced with certain difficulties like divorces, relationship obstacles with their spouses, community rejection and drug abuse among others. Such children have no one around them but their own kids; hence they spank them to release their stresses. Some parents admitted that they wished they aborted their kids and such innocent beings are likely to be regularly spanked. The research further monitored the growth of the spanked kids and it was not pleasing. Such kids tend to be criminals as they grow not appreciating themselves. The research compared the kids who were spanked and those whose parents used other means as corrective measures. The later tend to be innovative, smart thinkers, obedient, moral upright, loving and caring as they value their own traits and understand the importance of their neighbors. Parental care is very important and it is important to lead the kids in the correct paths so that they would do the same to their own kids when they come of age. The research indicates that spanked kids cannot appreciate their neighbors and even the animals. Those are the kids who kill their pets as a way of relieving their frustrations. Kids are the keenest creatures in the planet; they are observant and would always practice everything they see the adults do. Spanking kid could mean taking advantages of the minors or the weakest. They will practice the same as they play or interact with their peers. That is the reason why spanked kids tend to be bullies and even molesters as they believe there is nothing wrong with hitting the less fortunate or the weak. Parents could be keen on talking valuable teachings to their kids but at the end of the day, the kids will do what they saw and not what they heard. Spanking compromises the child-parents relations and this could see some kids commit suicide or take to the streets to have their freedom. A good parental exercise must have corrective measures that enable the kids understand their mistakes and even appreciate the love of the parents. Kids are spanked are always afraid as they think the parents’ hands could inflict pain in their bottoms any time. As a result, they tend to shy away from the parents and hence they could have difficulty expressing their problems or challenges to the parents. Such kids could end up being sneaky as they wish to do their things in private to avoid their parents’ involvement (Gershoff, 2013). As a result, such kids end up performing poorly in the academics as they cannot raise questions to both their teachers and even parents. Furthermore, such kids could be facing some serious social or health problems but they will never tell their parents and some end up dead in their bedrooms as their parents have no clue or remain ignorant of their challenges. Repeated spanking could make the kids hit back by throwing sharp objects to their parents or adults involved. The kids tend to get tired of their bottoms hit and would express their satisfaction by hurting their parents. There are places where kids carry objects like stones and nails in their pockets in readiness to revenge on their spanking parents. The act is sudden and triggers some anger and negative energy that may compel the kids throw the stones and nails to hurt their parents or any body in the vicinity. Such kids tend to be rebellious as they tend to object the standards or the normal way of human life. They tend to reject any positive activities in the society as they wish to see other suffer just as they did while growing up. majority of spanked kids grow to be come smugglers, robbers, terrorists, bullies and sadists among other undesirable social and psychological traits. Despite the above negatives, some researches indicate that kids who were spanked and compliance as in they react to issues as fast as possible. Such traits are required in the managerial arena among others. Such kids also tend to learn fast to avoid punishment. This can be demonstrated when such kids tend to move away from the parents the moment they realize they are wrong. This indicates they learn fast and are ever attentive. Furthermore, such kids grow to be active and are likely to be the world most celebrated athletes among others. They are ambitious and their strong heart is their driving force to be successful in any thing they do. Some of the best rappers declare their childhood was full of spanking and that anger drive them come up with ideas to be presented to the microphones and they are successful as far as life is concerned. To conclude, spanking is the hitting of the kids’ bottoms with an open hand. Although majority of parents take it as a corrective measure, it bears various negatives as the kids advance. Spanked kids tend to develop some antisocial behavior like bullying as they see spanking as away of expressing frustrations to the weak or the vulnerable. They also tend to shy away from the adults and as a result they suffer without letting the parents know. Majority of such kids perform poorly in schools as they lose interest and remain inactive in both academic and extracurricular activities. Spanking have seen some kids take to the streets or commit suicide due to the frustrations (Mcguire, 2004). However, some researches indicate that spanked kids grow to be active and fast learners among other traits. They end up being the best athletes and rappers among other professionals. However, the best way to punish a kid is to let him or her know the mistake then let the kid feel the pain then finally convince the kid that the friendship still remains despite all that. This will make the kid have confidence and grow to be a loving and caring society member. Works cited Berlin, L.J., Ispa, J.M., Fine, M.A., et al.
