20 November 2009 Non-verbal communication The process of communication is normally a way of transmitting or getting information, messages or any type of data. This quality facilitates humans to share attitudes, knowledge and skills. This research is about the non-verbal communication which is known as communication without use of words. It holds obvious behaviors like that eyes, facial expressions; tone of voice; touching and less apparent messages like that posture, dress and spatial distance among two or other people (fhsu). In this research I will provide a detailed analysis of the nonverbal communication in the human life. This will offer a deep insight into the main difference among the nonverbal communication of men and women. Wagner (2009) has outlined that effective and good communication expertise and skills can facilitate us in both our professional and personal life. As verbal and verbal communication skills are significant. Actually, a lot researches has outlined that the greater part of our daily and interpersonal communication is nonverbal. Our non-verbal communication or we can say it as the body language that comprises our gestures, facial expressions, posture, eye contact and yet the tone of our voice. The capability to recognize as well as utilize nonverbal communication is influential tool that will help out us to link by others, articulate what we actually mean, follow the challenging states, as well as construct enhanced associations at work and home (helpguide). Communication is the most significant attribute of an organization. No company or business can be run without communication. In an organization, the people work to accomplish the particular goals and objectives. In order to accomplish the organizational objectives, the people working in the organization need to share information, experiences, ideas, opinions, and proposals etc. If the system of communication in the business or organization is not efficient, the goals or objectives cannot be accomplished. There must be close harmonization among the personnel with the intention that their actions may be productive. Communication flow must be run efficiently and productively at levels downward, upward and horizontal. The management can better capable to manage the issues of the concern. It can develop strategies in the light of the comments, choices and proposals specified by the personnel and colleagues. Success of management depends upon efficient communication. Effective communication is the lifeblood of a company or business. The communication may be written oral, verbal or non-verbal. The more a business organization processes this excellence of communication successfully, the more beneficial position it holds among other organizations of business. In most simple words “communication is the process of sending and receiving messages” (Ammerman 56). In an organization, every work requires communication. People communicate to design and develop products and services, employ, train, and encourage personnel; organize manufacturing and supply. Information and services are developed and supplied by communication. In every business communication is the technique personnel get their points from corner to corner, get work done, and get known for their work done (Locker and Kaczmarek 4). Normally communication is divided into two types: 1. Verbal Communication 2. Non-Verbal Communication In verbal communication we make use of words both in writing and speaking. While, the communication that is done without using words is acknowledged as non-verbal communication (Thill and Bovee 21). The most fundamental type of communication is non-verbal communication, all the cues, gestures, spatial relationships, vocal qualities, and attitudes toward time that facilitate us to share information without using words. The sense of non-verbal communication lies with the viewer, who equally reads and interprets particular signals in the framework of a specific state of affairs and a specific society. However there are around 700,000 different types of non-verbal communication, and they can be divided into six broad classes: (Thill and Bovee 21-22) 1. Facial expressions and eye behavior 2. Gestures and postures 3. Vocal characteristics 4. Personal Appearance 5. Touching behavior 6. Use of time and space Heathfield (2009) has outlined that nonverbal communication develops by means of practice. The initial step in practice is to identify the influence and power of nonverbal communication. It is outlined we can adopt effective nonverbal communication by training, beliefs, life experiences as well as all that structure our past, it’s our internal specialist on nonverbal communication (Heathfield). Nonverbal communication is able to correspond in the course of touch and gestures (also known as the Hepatic communication), through posture or body language, through eye contact and facial expression. In this research I have offered a detailed analysis of the communication, its main needs and types. Then I have talked about the nonverbal communication and its main utilization for the commutation at different levels.
