Children with Special Educational Needs Introduction There are lots around the globe with certain learning disabilities. The dilemma of the society is that this issue has not been raised properly for decades. In the recent years we see some vital steps taken to eliminate learning disabilities from students. Still there is a majority of students around the globe who have some special educational needs. These children have significantly low academic performance as their requirements are not addressed in a proper way. All the five fingers are not equal so is every individual on this planet. The mental caliber of every child is not the same so in order to make a low performing child better in academia and studies, rectification of his needs and wants along with learning deficiency should be fulfilled. Some educators are unable to identify children with special needs which can be an alarming situation for the society. The effects of this negligence can be seen in the near future as these kinds of children feel under privileged and their survival in the society is quite difficult. Now there are several organizations around the globe which are laying impact on this problem and helping out students in an enormous amount. The pleasant scenario in this overall context is that effective solutions have been introduced which can eliminate learning disabilities and special needs in children. This topic is of immense importance as a healthy and strong soul will give a better tomorrow to the world (Wong, 2011). Special Education Defining the terminology special education is vital as there are arguments between individuals regarding its true meaning. The type of education which addresses needs and differences in a student with systematic strategic planning, standardize teaching process and learning mechanism. There are wide ranging special needs in a student which include behavioral and emotional disorder, challenges in communication, development disorders and physical disabilities. Students facing these kinds of problem need attention, affection and love. Instead of dealing them with strictness, they should be given consideration and should be encouraged to overcome these problems (Slavin & Davis, 2006). (Job & Klassen, 2012) Rectification of these problems is now made possible with certain essential steps. The methods applied are new mechanism of teaching, resource room, usage of technological advancements and modification in traditional teaching styles. Many developed countries of the world have now applied this method of teaching for special students. Teachers and educators are smart enough to identify these students and then they are given sheer importance, consideration and respect among the other children. The therapy sessions of these students are giving tremendous results which not only present magnificent position of students in academia but also these children are more active in extracurricular activities too. Assisting Students Assisting students is the name of the game. Assistance depends upon the identification of special need. There are various strategies and theories for the elimination of problems. One of the most common approaches applied in this phase is the behaviorist theory. In this strategy the behavior of individuals are studied closely. The imperative changes in behavior are discussed more formally and actively. Gestures, behavior and attitudes and response of an individual is seen that what kind of element motivated him to follow the wrong path or where does the deficiency lies. In most cases it is seen that student’s problems were not addressed and cured in the childhood which led them to a disastrous situation. Behavioral theory acknowledges the fact and goes through essential steps for demolishing problems in children (Harris & Graham, 2012). Inclusion is also one of the technique in which students with special needs are merged with all other students of the institute. This method discusses modification in the curriculum and how essential changes can be made in it. Most schools and institutes are following this method of teaching to identify the needs of special education. Most of the students are not good in certain subjects such as mathematic etc. so they have been given the option to skip that subject and their specialization is done in some other subject (Emmer & Stough, 2001). Assisting the students with special needs is important and significant. The strategic formulation for the elimination of disabilities has been very resourceful. The learning disabilities in children have led the moral of students down; they were neglected and disrespected among their class fellows. Methods of Provision The applied behavioral analysis is a positive method for the provision of this problem. Special needs for students can be identified through this technique. The operant conditions of a student are determined in this regard, praising and applauding the student can be very helpful. The rise of intrinsic motivational among students is necessary. Reward system is also beneficiary as the psychological studies show that it’s in the human nature to work hard if there is a prior award for it (Job & Klassen, 2012). Certain awareness programs by the help of government funding should be introduced into the system which would ensure special needs of children. Awareness is necessary and media as a medium should be introduced to address such vital societal issue. This issue can be faced by any individual’s child in the globe so in every country this program implication should be made certain. The development scenario in the countries must be expanded as it is seen that school having privileges only induct this program (Harris & Graham, 2012). Instructional Strategies It is not totally the responsibility of teachers totally to rectify the problems or to demolish learning disabilities in a child; parents also have some responsibilities. Parents have to be proactive in upbringing and grooming their children. It is not essential that a student will get proper training and rectification of this problem if some school based strategies are applied. At home certain strategies are wonderful and implementable. Telling the child with depicting the importance of that work on his life can be a very useful strategy. Helping students in academic through extra care and affection is required. Giving easy tasks and then rapidly implementing the difficult scenarios in those tasks to check the mental capability of a student is obligatory. The provisional methods give positive results in all aspects. Pivotal response therapy is also beneficial for the students. Self management and social initiations aspect is also discussed. The student with special needs is required to manage its time duration in such a way that each and every minute of his life would be productive and essential for his upbringing (Wong, 2011). Verbal and written explanation of the work plan should be made available to the students so that there would be no ambiguity in their learning mechanism. Step by step instructions are necessary in order to explain anything to a student. This would not only create more sense in a children mind but also the motivation to work hard will increase which is the desired goal (Slavin & Davis, 2006). An instructor should never use a child’s work as a class example until it is up to the mark. If there is some deficiency in the work then other students may make fun of him and this would let his moral down. This can be a very negative aspect in the learning behavior. A scoring guide should be maintained by a teacher so that it would record all the score of a student. This would also depict his performance record, previous and current. Student should also be given the chance to speak and represent his ideas and thoughts. Letting his ideas spread out to the world can be very helpful in understanding mechanism. References Wong, B.
