Psychology is a wide and important field in the current curriculum. As a student of psychology, it is important to understand the ideas behind psychological testing and be able to apply them in real-life situations. The purpose of this report is to write about lecture PSYC 406. The report covers various topics that were taught during the lecture period, giving information on the ideas received during the time. By going through the lecture notes, the report covers topics on psychology under approaches, psychometrics and test creation, ability and disability.

The report discusses the historical perspective of psychology, applications, norms and statistics applied in psychological measurements. Furthermore, the report talks about reliability, validity and bias in psychological tests. The report concludes by a discussion on creation and evaluation, ability and disability in relation to psychological tests and measurements.APPROACHESHistoryDuring the lecture period, students were introduced to the history of psychological testing. Students can understand that a test is a technique that is utilized to help in the understanding and prediction of behavior.

Furthermore, students learned types of tests including individual and group tests. The individual test is always given to one individual at a time while a group test is administered to more than one person by one examiner. Tests may also be classified based on the type of behavior that is being measured which may include ability tests and personality tests. Ability tests are always used in measuring skills in terms of accuracy or speed while personality tests are used in measuring typical behaviors including temperaments, traits and responses.

Psychological testing is another type of testing that is popular, and advisable for students to learn. This is a test that is mainly used for the purposes of evaluating an individual.
