Anti-Inflammatory Drugs as Anti – Aging? of Anti – Aging Medicine: Definition and Introduction Several years back the anti-aging medicine was considered only as a science fiction not until some of the researchers, clinicians and even scientists have pioneered several insights in relation to the anti-aging medicine. Anti-aging Medicine is a medical specialization created for the practice of medical technologies and advance scientific discoveries made for early detection, treatment, reversal and prevention of age-related illness. Its a type of health care model whose main function is to promote science innovation and research in order to prolong humans lifespan. Furthermore, it is based on different principles such as: 1. Scientific: wherein treatment and diagnostic practices are supported by concrete and proven evidences. 2. Evidence-based: it went through a series of orderly processes in relation to data gathering to effectively formulate consistent scientific assessment and objective principles. 3. Holistic: it utilizes logical framework for the head to foot diagnostic assessment and treatment regimen. 4. Synergistic: it is considered multi-therapeutic and multi-modal approach that is expected to produce great rejuvenative results by single therapy. 5. Well-documented: it is said to be reviewed by different peers such as American Journal of Cardiology, Aging, Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, Lancet and Journal of the American Medical Association and etc. The Anti-aging Medicine focuses on an aggressive care of disease through the use of high-tech diagnostic and treatment biomedical technologies to simply trace disease on its early onset. Its goal is not only to just prolonging life of individuals by to make sure that those individuals are enjoying a good disposition in life by being productive and participative. The Benefits of being knowledgeable It is said that getting the longevity of life payoffs not only for individual consumption but as a society as well. If one will take a look on the potentials of saving more money through the insurance, everybody will be like a trillionaire. Just simply imagine those years that you will be saving and add it up on the years that youre expected to get a rebate from insurance or from the time that youre supposedly be spending money on hospitalization and other bills, it will definitely makes a lot of money for you and of course for your love ones as well. With this, it will greatly increase the potential of financial gain. Through the innovation of science advancements specially in anti-aging; it is said to believe that there is definitely an increase in health promotion and prevention support from all sectors of our society. On the other hand, by being proactive in terms of health programs and with proper implementation of it, were increasing our chance of experiencing a long lifespan and the chance of enjoying quality and abundant life together with our families and its future generations. At present time, Americans by nature spend time investing in health care comparing with other citizen in the world. This is simply because of great awareness of why it pays to invest in health and in fitness than any other material things in this world. There are also a quite large of number of scientists who have been taking antioxidants for years e.g. Vitamin E, C, A. Some of them went on consuming herbal antioxidant products and some pharmaceutical drugs such as anti-inflammatory (Ibuprofen). It is therefore concluded that aging is associated with loss of muscle strength and its mass. It is thereby unmanageable for individuals and aging related diseases play a major factor to our health care systems. It order to resolve such; it is a big challenge for some scientists and medical professionals to work on going deeply to study the underlying etymology of aging. One defined disease associated with this is Sarcopenia. The latter is said to be multifactorial condition associated with loss of alpha-motor neuron input, change in anabolic hormones and decreased physical activities. It is also viewed as a condition caused by pro-inflammatory cytokines. It was recently studied that chronic inflammation is a major player in muscle weakness and in Sarcopenia. Furthermore, through the long term use of ibuprofen maintains the anabolic effect of food intake thus muscle protein metabolism is regulated causing decrease of low-grade inflammation through restoration of protein synthesis. The reason behind on the anti-inflammatory effect of the drug is not only on the muscle mass but in relation to other age associated chronic diseases. Aging is relative to chronic low-grade systemic inflammation and often associated with several chronic non-communicable diseases. It is also said that mediating insulin resistance co-exist with inflammation, hardening of the arteries, nerve degeneration and growth of tumor. The systemic low-grade inflammation is also considered as a key player for the type 2 diabetes, heart diseases, Alzheimers and even cancer. Now, with focus on hitting the inflammation it is therefore targeting other chronic diseases associated with aging. It is therefore advised specially to older people to have a regular exercise since exercise will help the system to decrease inflammation and gives protection from loss of muscle mass. Through this, it will develop good blow flow and a good blood systemic circulation and a great chance of combatting other chronic diseases as well. Legitimate studies published at different reputable scientific journals It was reported that Melatonin usage can increase the lifespan of an individual. The test was first executed through the use of a mice. A finding was supported the effects of pinealectomy and pineal extract administration. Life span prolongation through the use of Melatonin was interpreted through the regulation of the immune system in relation to the anti-stress properties of the the melatonin acting in the brains opioid system. Another explanation made was that Melatonins anti-aging effect is caused by the stability of the circadian system which is actually decreasing as we age. It is therefore concluded that high concentrations of Melatonin in our brain, it sends signals to the hypothalamus thereby increasing the amplitude of our circadian pacemaker system. Another test has been conducted to some animals with some restrictions on caloric intake below that of ad libitum (AL). The study shows retardation on different characteristics of aging and as well as the occurrence and progression of age related diseases, though the resulting factor was dependent on the duration it was conducted. The hypothesis made involved stimulation of the capacity of the cell to repair. Overall, the result obtained was theres an improvement on the cell membrane thereby reducing the aging capacity of the tested animals. In conjunction to this study, it was also believe that apart from Caloric Restriction in diet, many hormones of our body from our peripheral tissues regulates the homeostatic energy and the food intake thereby the more fats being deposited into the body theres a big chance of us increasing the rate of aging. With Caloric Restrictions, it sends signals to our hypothalamus to release neuroendocrine hormones thus modulating the longevity of our cells and causes anti-aging effect. A follow through study was made in relation to the use of Caloric Restriction diet in comparison with the oxidative stress that rapidly increases aging process. The study focuses on the molecular mechanisms defining the interrelation of pro-inflammatory states, reactive oxygen species and nitrogen species. With these investigation, it was found out that only regulation of the redox-sensitive inflammation may help to prolong the life of a cell making it to slow down the aging process. Anti-Inflammatory & Anti-Aging agent: In One It was said that the drug Resveratrol is a new drug sensation creating a good combination of anti-aging and anti-inflammatory effect. Resveratrol is a phytoalexin polyphenolic compound which can be found in plants and from the berries type of fruits such as grapes, berries and even with peanuts. It is said to have a beneficial effects on neurological, hepatic and cardiovascular systems. Resveratrol has been investigated to have the cancer-chemo preventive effects. The stilbene contents help to block the processes of carcinogenesis in different stages such as tumor initiation, promotion and even progression of it. Theres a great possibility that its biological activities involve regulation of the inflammatory responses via inhibition of synthesis and the release of pro-inflammatory substances, inhibition of activated immune cells. However, when tested with yeast and flies, it resulted into prolonging the lifespan and thereby can reduce or treat any age-related human diseases. It is also good to know that its compound content has a low bioavailability and can pass through rapidly through plasma membrane causing a positive effect of regulation of the inflammation. Grapes As A Life Extending Fruit Since our younger years, we always knew grapes as in a fruit to eat before or after each meals or like a fruit to eat during our snack time as a substitute for any other meals. Aside from the fact that it gives a different feeling whenever we eat it is that we knew that our wines are taken out from the grape extract. Grapes as a wine has great and tremendous effect to our health specially our hearts; this is where we get our red wine, white wine and many others. For red wine, as they said, it has beneficial effect in our heart arteries therefore giving us a chance to avoid arteriosclerosis, atherosclerosis and many other heart related problems. A whole grape can contain a botanical extract (polygonum cuspidatum) which contains polyphenols which includes flavans, anthocyanins, emodin and resveratrol (as said earlier). These polyphenols exhibit dosage dependent scavenging effects on reactive oxygen species (ROS). Reactive oxygen species are inhibited by the extract and also the protein carbonyl in the liver mitochondria after exposure to lipid oxidant generator. In human neuroblastoma cells are being protected against dihydrochloride (AAPH) through pre-treatment of extract. It is therefore inhibits excessive ROS generation and thus induced oxidation wherein it maintains cell viability. The extract is now said to be a potent free radical scavenger and at the same time a protector for mitochondria which results to protecting the body against degenerative neuron diseases and thus can potentially increase life span of an individual.
