National Career Development Association (NCDA) An organization emerged in 1913 under the of national vocational guidance association. Further in 1985 it came to be known as National career development association which came up as the founding organization of the American counseling association (ASA). NCDA is a leading body in developing standards for career counseling and evaluating the career information material. Its major goal is to promote career development throughout the lifespan by providing a blueprint for various career counseling firms to work on.

Protocol or ethics are set for the organization by the NCDA so that they work in a fashion not to misuse the power at hand. NCDA also works in licensing and credentialing bodies to support the recognition of career counselor and facilitators. Even the national US media constantly consult the NSDA for career related issues.NCDA also promotes the sharing of workforce policies and practices at a global level informing about the various ongoing research in the growing field of career development.

The NCDA has helped people in various situations like natural disaster when the situation is really vulnerable is people are bound to get negative career thoughts, so that’s where career counseling comes into play and help the people. The NCDA committee works in such a way so that 2 codes of ethics would be compatible with each other while developing, adding and enhancing professional specific guideline for the NCDA’s members. About APA APA or American psychological Association is a scientific and professional organization that represents psychology in the United States.

It is the largest organization for psychology in the world with 154000 members. Psychology is a diverse discipline dealing with a lot of aspects one of which is the mental and emotional one, which is dealt by the various psychologists. The study helps in dealing with patients of depression and to learn about criminal involved in criminal activities. Another aspect of psychology comes where the psychologist do basic research, develop theories and test them to hone their skills. APA is an organization that helps to create, communicate and apply psychological knowledge for the benefit of society and helping people in their lives.

There are various standards that have been set in various realms. One of them focuses on human relations that forbid any psychologist to engage in any unfair discrimination on the basis of age, gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, socio-economic status. When the psychologist is counseling the family or the individual they have the right of transmitting information electronically to the client, but must be done in a form understandable by the person. Another standard gives importance to education and training, where psychologist is responsible for checking and ensuring that the designed education programs are being properly implemented.

The type of licensing and certification that would be required for certain types of training are checked by the organization, so that the program is achieves the designated goals. The psychologist needs to follow the ethics of providing a timely and specific feedback to the students and supervisees. Similarity and Difference between NCDA and APA The NSDA and APA works very closely when it comes to certain important career related issues. the NSDA has developed the guideline for the Use of Internet for the Provision of career information and planning services ( NCDA,1997),where the APA has convened a task force on internet psychology testing to examine current practices and to consider issue concerning internet testing, including testing validity, confidentiality and test interpretation.

The Summarized report was provided in 2003 and dealt with the issue of psychology and internet and impacting the field of career counseling in a big way. The NCDA and APA are working together in the domain of education and help in setting various testing measures for the course material and system of education. The NCDA focuses on career development whereas APA deals with the psychological aspect of it. Many individual seek counselor for career development but psychologist actually help them in figuring out the right kind of profession depending on the mental inclination of the person.

The organizations provide code of ethics for different issues, but at the same time they are related in the field of application. Career development may be applied by NCDA in case of a natural disaster but psychologist from APA help people cope up with devastation of the disaster.
