School counseling should be organized for children already affected by type two diabetes and obesity. This intervention allows psychosocial theories to be used to assist individuals in engaging in behavioral change. (Barker, 2009, p. 260)

A program of health education should be implemented to raise awareness in the whole school community about the importance of exercise and provide a forum for collective discussion, planning for change, and the introduction of more organized activities and sports at break times and after school. If possible students themselves should decide on events, and a reward system for participation should be introduced, providing positive reinforcement and rising self-esteem linked to the exercise activities.

A buddy system should be implemented, which allows older children to demonstrate new activities to younger children. This allows observational learning to complement the theoretical learning mentioned in section 2.
