The paper "High School Teachers’ Motivation and the Institutional Performance of Rural Public Schools" is a perfect example of an education research paper. It is evident that those occupations that boast high importance are likened with high self-esteem, social status, and consequently job satisfaction. In the world over, job satisfaction is a result of a combination of factors that promotes employee retention and development. These underlying factors have a great toll on the performance of an entity, reputation, and long-term goals. A variety of reasons contributes to the quality of learning institutions to bring forth a holistic student outstanding in academics, extra-curriculum, conduct, and agility to life’s challenges. Detailed studies have been done on the intrinsic and extrinsic capabilities of urban students to interact with success determinants. However, narrow studies have been conducted on how teacher motivation can transform rural students’ capacities into institutional success. Teacher motivation, nevertheless, becomes a centre of interest in unravelling continued failure of schools in rural Australia to pace with their urban counterparts.

Intrinsic and extrinsic motivation begins with stimulation and is followed by an emotional reaction that culminates in a particular behavioural response, for example, in a school situation, if the efforts of the teachers are regarded by the school administration as desirable and consequently rewarded such a positive reinforcement would definitely make teachers have high morale in their work. Conversely, frustration and anxiety may lead to behaviour thought characterized by negativity hence a lack of recognition and reward. Heynes (2000, 160) notes that institutions of learning depend largely on the quality, performance, and commitment of the personnel who work there. For excellent results, the human resource component required is a delighted classroom teacher. The key determinants of teacher motivation delineate as terms of service, working and living conditions, institutional policy environment, vocational service, occupational status, entrenched procedures, and school management.
