Personal ments for Master of Arts in Psychology of CSULA Personal ments for Master of Arts in Psychology of CSULA My desire to study psychology started early in my life where as a child, I lived with an alcoholic. From my observation and experience with such a person, I was able to gain an understanding of what it was like to live with an addicted person. An interest to learn more about human behavior and the body processes that take place for an individual to cope with such circumstances was thus developed.

I developed the ambition to work in an environment where I can help people and especially children to cope with mental challenges. It is because of this that Currently, I am a holder of a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. However, I would like to pursue my masters program in arts in psychology. Since childhood I have always possessed the passion to assist and understand children especially from a different community from mine. This is because I have been highly intrigued by the way children and toddlers behave creating more desire to understand such unique characteristics.

My interest in psychology was revealed in fifth grade where modern studies was my favorite subject. From this, I gained better insights on the different social trends that made me understand that social problems result from the choices we make. Previously, I was engaged in voluntary work at the local pre-school from where I gained a lot of experience. My main duties involved interacting with the children and getting to help them around with minor activities that included painting, modeling and construction.

I got to understand how children reason in their different environment. It is in the way that they made models and drew pictures based on their relationships with others. However, from the same experience I got motivated to discover more about their operations so as to be in a position to handle them in a better way. This is mainly in the sense of their bonding with other people.A greater desire was built from this experience where I needed to advance my position and lead the children into a healthier direction in the psychological field.

I am an enthusiastic individual who is also a logical thinker especially when it comes to the fields related to the human mind. I will be in a position to work with my course mates and professors to find solutions when performing future scientific studies. In this way, I will not only be developing myself but helping others develop as well.The main reason for this application is to improve my GPA through the master courses. It is because the course emphasizes on the flexibility in providing a chance to pursue various areas in psychology.

This is in addition to building on a specific foundation in scientific methodologies. It particularly focuses on the examination of the application of psychology to varied issues of behavior, cognitive activities in the society.The course would help me to gain more experiences in the area of development in addition to gaining more research and working experience that is related to the field. It will also act as a preparation and an entry point into the doctoral program which is highly based on research and motivation.

I take part in an events committee in school that requires team development and sharing of ideas through debate.I believe that if offered a chance to study arts in psychology at the CSULA I will tackle more relevant courses that will include research, to help me attain the appropriate educational psychology skills. It would offer me a wider opportunity of not only obtaining information from the activities of the children but also acting as their educator. With this, I would be able to apply my psychological skills to counsel the children and direct them on how to handle and deal with different situations.

I have been made to understand that the masters program at the California State university is a rigorous program since its main aim is to develop skills in research and conceptual ability for the students who wish to proceed with their studies into doctoral levels.
