Should Homosexuals Be Allowed To Marry? Should Homosexuals be Allowed to Marry? Homosexuals are considered to be the third category of individuals by the society these days. The thesis of the paper states that whether homosexuals should be allowed to marry. The answer to this question equates to a yes and the fact of the matter lies in the fact that they have their own individuality and that should be respected. Homosexuals need to be recognized as people and therefore it is mandatory that they should be allowed to marry. Homosexuals translate into Lesbians and Gays who consider to bond with the person of the same gender. These people have been castigated over the period of history and due to this they have been ignored and subdued under terrible circumstances. Not long time ago being a Gay or a Lesbian was considered to be a taboo in the society all over the world. Gays were looked down upon in a very condescending manner in the olden days and there were no laws which protected their identity. The Constitution of various countries did not provide for any protection for such people and there was a huge demarcation between the gays and other individuals who were considered to be normal by the construed standards of the society. Now the time has shifted and we are progressing with an open mind. Gays and Lesbians have come out in the open and have been labeled as an intricate part of the society. They are no more considered to be outsiders and therefore the society is more open and adept to their behavior in the society. The law takes it course according to the changes and developments in the society. The way the society progresses channelizes the manner in which law modifies itself. The law is the mirror of society. It is also the answer to the rights of the people with respect to the fundamentals. The gays and the lesbians have a right to live with dignity and this should be guaranteed in the Constitution of various countries. They should not be discriminated against and should be allowed their freedom with respect to their legal rights. Every homosexual is a person and an individual who is distinct in the eyes of the law and this should be taken care of by the law itself. Every person has the right to marry and the homosexual should also have this right entertained for him under different legislations and the Constitution. It is the right of an individual to live with dignity and live the way he/she wants it, and the same should be allowed for the homosexual as well. Another factor which should be taken into account is the fact that they are very emotional people and they rely on the individuals of their own sex to give them advice and emotional feedback on life. It is extremely pertinent on the part of the Constitution to allow gays in the way they want to live. Furthermore, homosexuals are much better parents according to various agencies and centers because they are emotional and thus care for children better; they help to control the population by adopting children because obviously they will not give birth as a couple. This way of life thus should be adopted in many countries like China and India especially where the population is growing out of hand. There are also many orphaned children who need homes and need a caring environment which homosexual parents can provide for better than two parents belonging to different genders. It is not true that a child needs a mother and father figure in order to mold into a wonderful human being; two male or female parents can also do that because all the child needs is love, care and attention. The point therefore is to understand that homosexual marriages are as similar as straight marriages and there is not much difference except the difference in choice of marrying a person from another gender. Same sex marriages are becoming common these days, however according to the old traditional rules of marriage; it is a union between a man and a woman and not between two men or women. It is unnatural for most priests to hold same sex marriages for the simple reason that it is against the idea of religion or even science for that matter. These details have been further discussed within the purview of the next argument against same sex marriages. Homosexuals should not be allowed to marry because of many reasons including the violation of rules of marriage which include procreation to a great extent. Creating a family that is, giving birth to a child and helping raise it to become a wonderful individual who gives back to society is one of the prime ideas of marriage. As a union, a man and a woman have intercourse in order to give birth however in a same sex marriage that is not possible. Furthermore, most homosexual couples take to adopting children but these children are not able to adapt themselves to society in a proper manner because of the lack of either a man or a woman in their family lives; if a child has both male parents then he feels left out of the maternal affection and love that he needs; the same goes for the role of a father if both parents are females. This also makes it difficult for the child to cope up with the other children that go to school with him because they might talk about having a mother and a father which might make the child feel out of place. Going by this theory, if homosexuals are allowed to marry each other then they will end up creating a disturbance in the entire idea of marriage as a union; marriage will no longer remain sanctity between a man and a woman, making the world a very complicated place with respect to raising future generations. More and more people will turn out to be homosexual because the child will be impacted greatly by the conduct of the parents; homosexual men tend to be very sensitive and emotional and this is a trait that most women have within them. This trait for example will have a great effect on a child, more so if he is a male child, and this will enable him to have greater chances of being gay. Thus, the population rate of people with a straight sexual orientation will also lessen. Most people belonging to older generations are not able to fathom the fact that two men and two women may develop and formulate a relationship amongst themselves; this they have difficulty in digesting because for them marriage is a sacred tie between a man and a woman which means that their families also come together. In most cases however, the families of homosexuals are not able to digest the fact that their children might have a different sexual orientation and thus they end up disowning them. This creates a lot of familial disturbances. In conclusion, homosexuality is a way of life that many people are born with even; homosexuals may also choose their orientation with time, however it is a personal choice and should not be affected by what other people think. Today, the world has become a much better place, inviting people of different orientations to come join majority groups and not discriminating against them, but there are still many people who discriminate against them and are not able to accept homosexuality as a way of life. Homosexuals cannot help their orientations and need to be treated just like other human beings; it is their choice and right to marry someone and live a peaceful happy life with them. Thus, they should be allowed to marry, morally, because they have a right to live as they wish to as well. They can create beautiful families by adopting children who need a home to live in; they have wonderful habits that they can pass onto their children. They need not procreate because the world already has many orphans that need homes, thus this is one of the major advantages of why they should be allowed to marry. Furthermore, by being homosexual and marrying someone they want of the same sex, they are able to prove to society that they are capable of being vociferous and strong about their love and this proves that they will be able to create a wonderful life for a child. However at the same time, according to the principles of religion, homosexuality is not allowed thus not letting them get married to each other belonging to the same sex. All these arguments have been discussed with a view to understand homosexual marriages and their stance on both sides. References 12 reasons why homosexuals should not be allowed to marry..
