DD Month YYYY THE PROBLEM OF REFUGEES Refugees are citizens from another country that normally get out of their country and go and stay in another country simply because of war or any calamity that might have occurred in their home country. We have many refugees across the world who might have fled out of their country due to one reason or another. The following are some of the challenges or problems that refugees are facing worldwide. Most refugees face a lot of problems with cultural barriers. In the countries that they frequently go to seek refuge, there is always a significant problem when it comes to mode of communication, something known as language barrier, for example if some people can only communicate in French and because of civil wars or calamities they leave their country to go and seek refuge in a country where people speak English, there is always a big problem in understanding one another hence this makes them feel outsiders and not wanted at the same time some of their rights may be infringed. Another significant problem that refugees do face is deportation, in those countries that they always go and seek refuge the government may decide to deport them back to their country even if the condition of the country is not yet okay. This typically makes the refugees feel guilty and insecure all the time, and this is because they do not know the time and the hour when they will be deported back to their home countries. During the time of deportation, these refugees typically lose a lot of things, this is because they cannot afford to carry all their properties and travel with back to their countries. Some of their children get lost leading to a lot of pain in the families. The refugees are also denied some basic things such as education and ability to own a driving licenses, so in case a child is brought up in a refugee camps, the possibilities of being educated is very slim. They are also denied the right work or get employed this is because majorly the refugees are frequently considered as intruders hence this makes them to feel isolated and not wanted (Haerens & Margaret 2010). The refugees are always denied the right to access some services in the countries that they usually go to. Some of them regularly do not receive health services, something that is very crucial hence is has been noted that the death rate in refugee camps are always very high as compared to those people who do not stay in the refugee camps. Some countries have also come up with rules that prohibit the refugees from accessing any service in their countries hence, the refugees commonly suffer a lot when it comes to such situation. They also do not have proper housing that is secure for their young children and the whole family too. They are always given tents to settle in; hence there is no luxury I these tents this is because some families are gigantic hence there is congestion in the tents that they are always being given through donation. Some of these refugees are also taxed by the government of the countries that they usually visit something that is atrocious because they do not even have the source of employment to get that money to pay the taxes (Haerens & Margaret 2010). The refugees also normally have the significant problem when it comes to raising their children. Sometimes they do not have food to eat hence young children go hungry for several days that typically lead them to death of some of these children, a condition that can be prevented by giving them food. In case food is offered to them, it is always less which cannot accommodate the whole family this force the adults in these families to go hungry as they consider their children. At the same time these refugees do have significant problems when it come so sanitation, all the refugee comes across the globe have poor hygiene, something that is very difficult to rectify because of congestion in these comps. As a result it has come to realization that disease associated with poor health is very common in these areas such as cholera and any other communicable disease, and this is due to congestion in these camps that do not give enough rooms for sunlight to penetrate to kill these disease-causing organisms. Despite the fact that some of these refugees generally leave their home country due to war, there is still violence in these camps, this is because they cannot always come to a conclusion or agreement, because they feel they should just be themselves. This is as the result of poor leadership or no leadership at all in these camps. Hence war and murder is very common in these camps, and this can only be reduced by introduction of leadership role and system in these fields, by allowing them to choose their leaders who can address some of their problems in the camps (Haerens & Margaret 2010). These is also abduction in these camps, some of the refugees regularly take advantage of their status and condition and take it as opportunity to abduct others majorly the girls are always seized by men or boys, who violate their rights hence ending up impregnating these girls at time they are also been infected with diseases such as HIV/AIDS and any other sexually transmitted disease. In the end, a lot of stress is imposed to those affected. Hence, it can also be said that there is the lot of stress in the refugee camps. The stress comes as a result of many things majorly due to homelessness and massacres in case there was any in their country. When these refugees leave their home countries and go to other countries there is always a significant challenge of climate change, due to this, most of them die because they may not be able to adjust to the conditions as soon as possible. An example is a situation whereby, refugees are coming from a hot environment then suddenly they go and seek refuge in a frigid environment, it has been noted that most of them do die the children majorly. At the same time change of climate in regularly come with different funny diseases such as pneumonia that usually reduce the population of the refugees at a high rate (Haerens & Margaret 2010). Many refugees always have problems with the security issues and the police in the countries that they are in, this is because of problems with law differences, we find that the laws in each and every county is always not the same and this have made many young refugees majorly the youths to be tortured by the police officers in the camps, similarly during deportation the transit officers normally harass the refugees something hence creating a lot of fear among the refugees and trauma experiences. The activities in the camps are always not gender sensitive; hence there is a lot of gender issue in the camps of the refugees. They are forced to play roles that do not actually belong to them, for example may be forced to look after the children in case the mother was killed in their home country at the same time a mother may be forced to play all their parts being a breadwinner, a father role hence it can be said that gender issues are more in the refugees camps. Lastly, it can be said that it is true that the refugees face a lot of problems of which some go unaddressed due to poor coordination with them at the lack of the corporation from them. It is wise if the refugees are absorbed in good moods and cases of cultural problems, I think people should learn the importance of togetherness. So it is very true that refugees face a lot of problems. Reference Haerens, Margaret. Refugees. Detroit, MI: Greenhaven Press, 2010. Print. Read More
