The American dream of forming a basis for the future generation has, however, long evoked with the dream becoming jeopardy to many people.

A skeptical view of the American dream is evidence that the dream may always remain tantalizing with the efforts of many people aspiring to achieve a social class, thus, enhancing discrimination against gender, race, religion, and national origin. A better understanding of how to achieve the American dream draws a significant interpretation of the term ‘Dream” to every individual. Arguably, any hope of potential change despite its magnitude describes the living dream of an individual. Changes in work ethic and industrialization have made the dream more of an entitlement rather than a desire or an ultimate goal to work towards achieving. Many Americans presently do not attribute success, richness, and wealth to hard work, time consumption, or sweat. They relay financial success as a matter of luck, rather than consistent hard work. This notion arises from the perpetuated massive marketing effort that tends to legitimize the fact that prosperity can be obtained easily and quickly.

The argument for achieving the American dream has led to the creation of a gap between the poor and the rich. As the rich find more ways of becoming increasing their wealth, the poor find themselves entangled in the massive pool of poverty. The issue of poverty arises with the need of individuals yearning to achieve success without related struggles or hardships. They, therefore, end up lagging behind economically as the rest strive to achieve their dreams and enjoy the fruits of their labor with intense happiness. Although the dream seeks to ensure equity and social happiness for all, the poor find themselves with no place in modern society in America. Though the dream proves to be a reality in American society, how to achieve it without social discrimination remains a question at hand.

The American dream gives delineation of itself as a reality since it entails hard work, which is not attained within one day. Achieving this dream entails working better, smarter than before, safer, and ensuring more productivity, which never becomes a reality for many who find it hard to compromise with the required expectations. Individuals need patience and persistence as they work towards achieving the dream since the loss of track, egocentricity, and greed limit the potential of making the dream possible. Securing a happy future full of satisfaction is what encompasses the dream.
