This approach originates from psychology but it has spread to the spheres of healthcare, management, teaching and service practices. According to this approach, every person deserves an individual treatment. Different people, even if they share the same physical condition, have different needs and may require different care. For example, if there are two children with autism, it doesn’t mean they need the same treatment and support. Feelings and preference of each individual must be taken into an account.

There are eight basic values of person-centred approach: individuality, independence, privacy, partnership, choice, dignity, respect, rights.
