The manufacturing of the Pin Plate is recommended through Die Casting. The Die Casting is manufacturing process for the production of units with high dimensional accuracy, and appropriate surface finish. The desired material for the Pin Plate, should be inserted into steel mould under high pressure, the material shall be molten. The vents shall be provided in the mould to prevent formation of air gaps. The molten metal should be poured through feed system, which shall be pump the molten material into the mould. The casting process can be summarised as, "the die halves are first locked into the machine and the plunger retracted, as the molten metal is ladled into the shot chamber by way of a pouring hole; the plunger is moved back into the chamber, forcing the metal into the cavity". The material remains under high-pressure, and sufficient time shall be provided to the material for solidification. After the solidification of the molten material into pin plate is achieved, "the die is opened and plunger returned to its initial position".
The finishing process includes the detachment of the pin-plate from the die. It is important to understand that the "flashing and the extra cast bits of the feed system" are still attached to the job-piece which shall be removed through machining. The machining of the pin plate is recommended on the lathe machine to achieve dimensional accuracy, and to remove extra bits of the feed system, runner and overflows. It is recommended that the finishing of the object shall be conducted through band saw and cut-off wheels, the pin-plate; the object piece shall be then cleaned by application of abrasives, or pressurized water.
