Leadership al Affiliation: Leadership With the increasing levels of globalization which is mainly resulting from liberalization of markets, efficient flow of information, and integration of economies, the level of competition in the local market has increased immensely. This has resulted from the entry of international businesses which have diversified their operations to different market, an aspect that has enabled them to accumulate funds which they have been using to segment the market, position their products and services strategically in the market, and attract the loyalty of the customers towards their products and services. Therefore, in order for the businesses to remain competitive, they need effective leadership (Giuliani, & Kurson, 2002). This paper will therefore, analyze reasons why leadership is a fundamental part of the organization behavior. Effective leadership is very instrumental because the organizations take the personality of their leaders. Currently, the market has become very dynamic. As a result, in order for the organization to remain competitive, it must have a positive behavior. The subordinates should be market oriented. In addition, they should work together as a unit towards a common objective. This cannot be achieved if there is no effective leadership (Giuliani, & Kurson, 2002). For instance, if there are wrangles between the top-level managers the problems are likely to trickle down to the rest of the subordinates. Therefore, strong leadership is significant in fostering positive behavior between the employees. Once this is achieved, the organization is able to deal with varying challenges, an aspect that plays a significant role in ensuring that the organization remains united towards a common objective. Effective leadership is instrumental in enhancing communication which in-turn leads to positive organization behavior. Teamwork has become an important concept towards the success of any organization. However, teamwork cannot be achieved if there is no effective communication. Effective leadership ensures that issues that are raised by the employees are dealt with before they get out of hand. This is through ensuring that they implement an open office policy which enables the employees to report any grievances to the top-level managers without the use of intermediaries. This plays an important role in motivating the employees, thereby creating a serene working environment. The behavior of the organization depends on the personnel on the helm. If the leaders are involved in the daily operations of the organizations, they are likely to influence the rest of the subordinates to behave in a positive manner. Such leadership is able to convince the employees that they are the mirror of the organization. Therefore, they are able to understand that the organization depends on them in order to maintain its competitiveness in the market. Effective leadership is instrumental in ensuring that all negative behavior by the employees is eliminated before they get out of hand. A leader should always ensure that there is transparency and accountability among all employees. This plays a significant role in reducing cases of mistreatment. Many employees have suffered after being mistreated by their supervisors. For instance, if there are gaps in leadership, the employees are likely to be abused, bullied, and sexually harassed. However, when the leader of the organization is in control, all employees work as a single unit towards the goals and objectives of the organizations. In addition, cases of interdepartmental conflicts arise because of lack of effective leadership. An effective leader ensures that all departments work together and consult in order to avoid any conflicts or competition. This brings about a positive organizational behavior which is replicated in the overall performance of the organization. Leadership is very instrumental in influencing the organization to act in a particular way. The top leadership dictates the direction of the organization. For instance, they can dictate the attitudes and emotions in the organization. This is through implementing various strategies that increase the level of job satisfaction and organizational commitment (Giuliani, & Kurson, 2002). In an example, the leaders can use a performance appraisal to reward the hardworking employees. This can increase the employees’ motivation because of high levels of transparency in the organization. This can change the organization behavior. I align myself with transformational leadership theories. I am a person who likes to interact with other in order to understand their needs, thereby making changes that will enhance our relationship. As a result, I am able to gain their trust, an aspect that plays a significant role in achieving the desired results. I align myself with transformational leadership theory because I like to work together with other people rather than demand them to complete a task. I prefer to participate in making the difference. This is through acting as a guide rather than just monitoring others as they complete the task. Being transformational enables me to interact with the rest of the group members and understand their grievances. Therefore, I am able to intervene and make changes that are important for the success of the whole team. One of the major characteristics of transformational leadership is that it fosters capacity development, an aspect that brings higher levels of personal commitments among the members to the organizational goals (Bass & Riggio, 2006). This form of leadership mainly occurs when the leaders broaden and elevate the interests of the employees and bring them together towards the mission of the group. As a result, they are able to put their interests aside and focus on the interests of the group. Transformational leadership is characterized by openness to experience. This form of leadership is open to get access to and leaders with this trait are able to control their emotions when they are criticized (Srivastava, 2003). They are also able to tolerate critics and instead they act on the issues raised in order to become more effective. In conclusion, the success of the organization depends on the top leadership. This is because it influences the organization behavior. In addition, it ensures that the organization remains focused towards the set goals and objectives. Transformational leadership is conscientiousness (Srivastava, 2003). This is the ability to put large amount of productive work into tasks. They are detail oriented and they train, monitor and evaluate others in order to improve their performance towards a specific task. In addition, they are able to give guidance, direction, and maintain the focus of other members towards common objectives. This is very instrumental in ensuring that the members are not distracted from the main task. References Bass, B. M., & Riggio, R. E. (2006). Transformational leadership. Mahwah, NJ: L.
