Business and Society Contents Contents 2 Reflective 3 Reflective 2 5 Reflective 3 7 References 9 Reflective In present generation the companies have started to grow globally expanding its business across to various parts of the world. Business should be concerned a lot about the social sustainability. The companies should make sure that they take care of the surrounding society in a good way. They have continuously made attempts to grow and expand their business exploring new markets and opening their branches in all the locations where they find opportunity for growth. This has led to huge globalisation with growth in economic conditions of both the company and also a huge benefit for the society as well. Every company has got a certain number of stakeholders who play a crucial role in the growth of the company. Therefore the companies should make serious attempts to make sure that the stakeholders can also have a good growth and have good economic and social conditions. I believe that the laws that are been made by the different governments of different countries focusing on the welfare of the human beings and the society are to be followed by the company strictly so that they don’t face any kind of legal obligations. The stakeholders for the company are owners, suppliers, customers, local community, employees and management. But I think increase in welfare of the stakeholders is possible only when the cycle is been completed that is the company also in return does help the stakeholders in their growth and for having a good and happy life. The owners of the company give their money and have financial stake in the company in the form of stocks and bonds and they also expect that they get some kind of financial return from the corporation as well (Freeman, 2005). The employees do give their best and work efficiently for the growth of the company but in return they also look for a good salary and also want to avail some good facilities which can help them in having a good and comfortable life. The company should look to take care of the safety and health of the employees and also of their families. It should provide good educational facilities for the children’s of the employees. I can see that if the company provides such facilities to the employees than the employees feel motivated to work more efficiently. For any company the suppliers do play a big role as they are the one who supply good quality materials to the company helping them in producing good quality products for the customers. So the company should always make attempts to see that the suppliers also keep growing along with the company and they also keep improving in all aspects. I firmly believe that the suppliers and the company do run on the same line and both of them face the growth and decline together, therefore it can be stated that it is very important for the company to take care of the suppliers in a huge way. The customers are considered to be as God for the company, it is the customer satisfaction that is the final thing every company tries to achieve. The customers do have lots of options in the market in every product category and they pay their earnings to avail a particular product. I feel that the company should make sincere attempts to make sure that they provide best quality products to the customers at the best possible price so that the customers are fully satisfied. The products must help the customers in solving their need and also help them in creating a good value in the life of the customers. The local community surrounding the company is very important as it shows the impact that the company has created in the locality. The company must look to help the society by taking part in certain activities for the social welfare, the various Acts that are been made for air and water pollution should be maintained, it should generate more employment opportunity etc. In these ways the company can certainly help the local community to grow in economic and social conditions as well. Consequently I agree strongly with the fact that the business should contribute a lot in the growth and sustainability of the society so that both the society and also the company can have a continuous growth. Reflective 2 With the increasing concept of globalisation among the companies, people from different locations are been sent to different locations for the purpose of jobs. Companies try and increase their business in different countries across the globe and for getting the same kind of good efficient work in all the places it looks to send their good performing people to the new locations. Lack of cultural understanding does affect a lot on the professional future career. This can affect a lot on the career growth. But the culture in different countries do vary in huge way, the way people think, their religious beliefs everything varies a lot. For example the culture in China is very much different from the culture that is there in UK, US, India, Russia etc. I do feel that when a particular employee is been send from one particular location to another than they do face a lot of problems because of the change in the culture. Adapting to global cultures has become one of the primary requirements for success. Most companies in recent times follow the methods of transfers where employees are transferred to foreign locations for a specific project purpose. It gets extremely tough for the transferred employee to habituate himself on the new environment or the culture of the foreign people. This acts as the hurdle towards his success. It is very difficult of every individual to cope up with the new culture and adapt them with the new working environment. I think that this difference in the culture and the difficulty in adapting to the new culture do affect a lot in the way the particular individual performs. It is a general tendency of human nature to resist to the change that is been taking place I feel it is very important that the individual who is been sent to work in a new place must be trained properly with respect to the new culture, thus make it easy for him/her to adapt to it easily. Otherwise this can cause a huge problem in the future career of the individual (Benedict, 1993). The way of communication that is been used by the peers and the senior managers to the new comer should be good and in easy language and they should make the new comer feel good by becoming friendly to him/her by communicating through mails or by using social media. Communication will lay the foundation stone for the new comer to get himself habituated with the new culture. Communication with the people around him will help him to gain knowledge about their life style and the culture they believe in. It will help the new comer to get friendly quickly with all the other members and also adapt to the new conditions easily. I feel that the employees should also be very flexible along with the company so that they can adapt to the changing culture and understand the new cultures easily which will enhance them in getting a good and bright future in their respective careers (Molinsky, 2012). The cultural relativism also clearly explains that employees should not be fixed and has strong perceptions about any particular thing rather they should be able to adapt to the new culture by understanding the beliefs and thoughts of the new culture as and when they are required to adapt. This will certainly help the candidate to learn new things and also enhance their skill sets by a huge way helping them in growing at a good pace and also provide better salary to them. Hence I do belief that the employees should have a good understanding of the new culture and also loot to adapt to it easily so as to have a good professional career in their life. People should try and become global along with the company to get more opportunities to grow and expand their knowledge levels. Reflective 3 The most value in the career as per me is the work-life balance among all the other options. I firmly believe that the work-life balance is very important for my career. As it will provide me a lot of scope to spend enough time with my family, relatives and friends and also work efficiently for the company. Work-Life balance will provide me a good balance between my personal life and the work life allowing me to have a happy life with less amount of stress. Having a good balance in my life will allow me to work also with more efficiency and also in a productive manner as I will have enough time for my personal life. Therefore working in such efficiency and productive manner will naturally help me in advancing and growing up in my career and reaching new heights new positions in the hierarchy of the company. This will enhance me with better salary and facilities which will allow me to have a comfortable and also al luxurious life (Kolb, 2008, pp. 53). It will help me in having a good status in the society and also a good recognition in the company as well. Because of the less stress of work I will be able to make the decisions quite effectively and also help in influencing others towards working hard for the company. This will allow me to look out for the education of my children’s in future and also towards the health of my family members. The work life balance will allow me with the freedom to learn more and new things helping me in growing my level of knowledge which I can implement in the work place helping the company in improving the overall operations. This will allow me to have a clear mind providing me the chance to make new and creative and innovative ideas for the company which can give me a better recognition in the mind of the management. This allows me to grow up in my career in future. It will provide a lot of flexibility in my work where I will be able to adjust my work and also my personal life in a very easy manner keeping both the company’s management and also the family happy with me and my performance. The work-life balance will allow me to become more social and I will be able to help the society to develop in every possible way. It will not only provide me with sufficient income to sustain but because of the stress free life I will be able to work in more efficient way and I will be able to grow on a constant basis and I will be financially free also. This will allow me to buy all the required and the desired things that I and my family desire to have for a happy life. It will also allow me to adapt to the changing requirement of the company as and when required as I will find myself comfortable working anywhere because I will have sufficient time to spend for my personal and family life. This will provide a huge stability in not only my job life but also in my personal life. The balance will allow me to concentrate in a better way on both the sides allowing me to focus more and work more efficiently without any kind of stress from any direction. The work pressure will be less over me as I will be able to balance and move in a good manner having a good balance. Hence it allows me to have a good systematic career growth and also a good relation with the family. So I firmly agree to the point that for me the work-life balance is very crucial and the top most criteria for my career as it will enhance me to have a good career in my job and also help me in having a happy personal and family life providing all the facilities for my family and also allow me to work efficiently for the company. This in total will allow me to have a good lifestyle and a good status in the society where I live in. References Kolb, R. 2008. Encyclopedia of Business Ethics and Society, Volume 1.
