To counter the menace, United States of America schools are gradually establishing severe guidelines for student behavior (Warren, Bohanon-Edmonson, Turnbull, Sailor, Wickham, Griggs, & Beech, 2009). A good number of school discipline measures are reactive and retaliatory, rather than being proactive. Corporal punishments are disciplinary measures normally used as a mean of punishment for a violating school’s rules and deviating from norm (Rod, Getch, & Ziomek-Daigle, 2009). Moreover, under rare circumstances do corporal punishment accompany instruction or interventions intended to teaching or reinforcing students’ appropriate behaviors.

Therefore, by considering the severe side effects of corporal punishment and limited positive impact of corporal punishment in student behavior, it is factual to state that, corporal punishment is outdated and an inappropriate punishment means (Skiba, Peterson, & Williams, 2010).
