Biofuels are fast becoming a possibility as a sustainable, renewable, alternative energy source and are being considered as a viable option by many world nations and economists. It is expected to take over as the main energy source, especially in the transport as an environmentally friendly way of getting our vehicles on the road.

The full process of policy should include six major steps which include a definition of the problem, alternative generation, analysis of alternatives, policy adoption, policy adoption, implementation of the policy, and policy evaluation. If the steps are followed keenly the policy process can be a big success.

I want to declare that all that is contained in this thesis is my original work conducted by myself under the supervision and guidance of my Supervisor and submitted by me in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the award of Master of Science degree in Environmental Studies. Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are the most common pollutants emitted by the chemical process industries. VOCs are carbon compounds that react with nitrogen oxides and other airborne chemicals in the presence of sunlight (photochemically) to form ozone which is the primary component of smog.

Hall’s Pond Sanctuary has been rightfully described as a fragment of the country in the city (Giezentanner and Eunson 1). Climate change is referred to as the change in weather conditions for a long period of time. The change is a result of factors such as biotic processes, plate tectonics, volcanic eruptions, and solar radiation (McIver & Lachlan, 1707). Moreover, some human activities are also believed to cause climate change in one way or another.

In many regions of the world, these plastic wastes are piled up in central areas by local authorities where they form landfill areas. These landfill areas are usually infected with microbes which catalyze the biodegradation of these plastics, releasing methane (a powerful greenhouse gas that contributes to global warming).
