The US immigration reforms are paramount in different ways since it not only benefits the immigrants but the US citizens too. Over the years, the US has recorded an increased number of illegal immigrants, and the high number continues to be recorded. Because of the trend, it is important to put parameters that involve these groups to contribute to the growth of the economy. Sending immigrants away seems to be more costly than giving them the US citizenship. Therefore, the immigration reforms are critical because they have economic benefits to the US. Immigration reforms are every important in the US because it will add $ 1.5 trillion to the cumulative domestic product (Kugler and Oakford 1). This would be the largest measure of economic growth over the ten years. Immigrants are currently contributing to the US economic growth only that they are not documented, and some are done secretly. A comprehensive immigration reforms plan that includes the legalization of all undocumented immigrants will be of great benefit to the economy. The US will also benefit from the additional GDP growth from the immigrants substantial sectors. For instance, immigrants have invested in industries such as Electronic equipment, construction, and textile, which will increase with the immigration reforms (Rukosuev 5). Therefore, there are many benefits in terms of economic advancements associated with the changes. Immigration reforms will make it easier for highly skilled immigrants as well as those educated in US colleges and universities to engage in businesses and create jobs without moving to their nations (Kugler and Oakford 6). This has not been the case since educated immigrants were not allowed to invest in the US, and their economic activities were restricted to certain parameters. Immigration reforms will allow foreign companies to invest in the US since the law allows them. Through this, the economy will improve to sustain the population. Immigrants who set up business and are employed will pay tax, which is good for any country (Rukosuev 7). The tax paid will benefit the nation by reducing the deficit by nearly $850 billion over the next two decades. It will provide a source of revenue that will help towards its fiscal expenses. Moreover, most of the tax also goes towards the retirement programs that millions of Americans rely on (Rukosuev 8). Therefore, social security would get stronger over a long term leading to additional of two years to the life of the trust programs. Similarly, the immigration reforms will make the US consistent with its value of withholding and promoting human rights and dignity (Kugler and Oakford 5). Currently, over 11 million people are in the UIS illegally or compose of illegal immigrants. The immigration reforms will give these people citizenship and be treated as US citizens. The reforms will give a new meaning to these immigrants since they will enjoy the benefits and get just treatments like other citizens. It will minimize their risk of deportation as it currently stands hence upholding their individual dignities. Moreover, there would be increased personal income that would intern increase consumer spending (Rukosuev 7). The consumer spending benefits the US because it leads to the circulation of money in the economy. This is also important because it leads to sustainability of jobs in different sectors. The high income of immigrants will make them open bank accounts, buy homes, start businesses that are essential in stimulating the economy. Currently, many immigrants are tied to economic activities they can practice making the US lose much money that it ought to have generated. The immigration reforms will allow increased consumer spending leading to the circulation of money to hence lowering the unemployment rate within the US. Immigration reforms will raise all workers wages (Wilson and Dilulio 151). The reforms will increase the wages of the less skilled newly legalized worker to $4,405 every year. Similarly, it will increase income for skilled workers up to $ 6,145 every year. Moreover, the wages of native and low-skilled US workers will increase under the comprehensive immigration reforms (Immigration Policy Centre 1). Additionally, the workers’ wages will increase because of the immigrant’s workers investments. For instance, they will invest in human capital such as education, job training, and language. This will increase their productiveness leading to higher earnings. Therefore, more comes with immigration reforms in terms of increasing the wages from the current to a much higher. The US has had the lowest birth rate from 1920, which is dangerous for the economy. The immigration reforms will help boost the US population to influence the economy in a positive way (Immigration Policy Centre 4). Currently, the immigrants account for a much higher figure of the US population that when legalized will perform essential assignments to boost the nations economy. In the absence of the immigrants, the low birth rate in the US will make the economy contract in the future. Therefore, immigration reforms will permit immigrants to be the US citizens to bridge the gap between the old age, which is posing a challenge to the US economy. The aging baby boom generation is posing a great danger, and its quick solution can only be achieved by legalizing the immigrants. Most of the immigrants are very productive and can contribute positively to the US economy. However, the inability of the US to implement the immigration reforms may lead to loss of revenues. For instance, the nation will lose approximately $2.6 trillion from cumulative US GDP over ten years (Immigration Policy Centre 2). Deporting immigrants will spell doom for the nation owing to their economic contribution. Similarly, the immigrant’s population has provided many job opportunities and engaged in different activities. For instance, last mass deportation of immigrants leads to 6290,000 jobs losses in 2009. Deportation will decrease the GDP by 0.5% every year leading to increasing unemployment (Immigration Policy Centre 4). Lastly, deporting immigrants is costly to the US since it has to spend money when deporting them. This may pose a challenge owing to the current deficit budget that the nation experiences. Although the immigration reforms offer a better and promising future to illegal immigrants, it poses doom to the US citizens. Currently, the US is experiencing unemployment rates with no promising future. This occurs and affects the US citizens who are eligible for employment. Therefore, legalizing immigrants to seek job opportunities and to compete with US citizens will increase the rate of unemployment. The immigrants will scramble for few opportunities currently available for the US citizens. Through this, it brings competition to the graduates seeking opportunities. Similarly, the growing number of eligible workers will lead to reduced wages paid to workers. Immigration reforms offer vast opportunities to employers since they have a databank of workers to choose. Hence, the inflow of workers and joblessness among the population may lead to unscrupulous employers paying a little money to the desperate job seekers. Hence, it might lead to oppression and reduced benefits to workers. In conclusion, immigration reforms will have positive effects to the US as a nation and the entire population. For instance, it will lead to increased labor force participation, as immigrants will take part in the economic activities. The pace of entrepreneurship among immigrants will increase to surpass that of the native-born population. The innovation and productivity will increase from the enhanced participation of immigrants. Additionally, the immigrants will contribute towards the America’s dwindling social security system that is in need of funds and reforms. This will be achieved through increased taxation and the expanding economy. However, there is the likelihood of competition for the limited opportunities such as businesses and employment among immigrants and native born.
