The paper "The Ethics of Alcohol Marketing in Azerbaijan" is a good example of a dissertation on marketing. As a controlled substance, the legality of advertising alcoholic drinks is a topic that has elicited mixed reactions and heated debates in various quarters. The government of Azerbaijan has consistently grappled with the best way to address the issue of alcohol advertising, an issue that is threatening to ruin the health and social lives of the country’s younger population (Anderson, 2013). Although self-regulation has been fronted as a possible way to address the issue, it has not always proven effective, and this explains why Azerbaijan has instituted statutory legislations to go with self-regulation. It must be noted that each country takes a different approach when dealing with alcohol advertising based on the laws they have in place. The government of Azerbaijan encourages all advertising agents to practice advertising that is legal, truthful, decent, and honest (Aronson, 2009). Advertisers are expected to show a sense of social responsibility to both society and consumers in line with the rules of fair competition. Alcohol advertising remains a sensitive topic that has raised various societal concerns, particularly regarding underage drinking. What remains certain is that the issue of alcohol advertising poses broadband of ethical considerations that requires the effort of all stakeholders if the issue is to be addressed conclusively.


Both the World Health Organization and leading alcohol producers in Azerbaijan as Baker (2012) explains, recognize the severity of the problem posed by alcohol dependence and alcohol abuse in the public health sector. Although differences are evidently present in views concerning the boundaries of moderate drinking and harmful drinking, what remains certain is that excessive and irresponsible consumption of alcohol can cause adverse social and health consequences both in the long term or the short term (Baker, 2012).
