Reflective Journal on Fashion Trends The Oscar award influence on fashion When Lupita Nyongo first hit the red carpet it wasjust more than the Oscars. His red coloured dress went viral and demand for her designer Micaela Erlanger saw the world shift to his designs. This influenced the red carpet and all movie lovers to shift to red. Other designs begun appreciating Erlanger and ranked him third (Vingan, 2014). His designs have gain popularity in the United States of America and Africa where the Oscar winner originated. This indicates how film influences fashion more than any other aspect. These are brought by the nature in which film is highly publicised. Most movie stars are idolized and what they trend come a long way to influence fashion. Many will tend to be pulled towards appreciating fashion and associate it to celebrities. The last three months has seen how Nyongo’s influential aspect has affected fashion in the red carpet with many celebrities opting for Micaela for their designs. Just like fashion itself the celebrity nature of any given artist and movies star may change as people will tend to shift towards new trending and emerging celebrities for fashion inspiration. It is evident on how celebrities influence fashion. The media plays a role in ensuring that these celebrities gain popularity. Those idolising these celebrities will adapt their ways of life and fashion hence impacting the fashion trend as was the case of the Oscar award winner. Upcoming designers will use this platform to design their fashion pieces and they will be flexible and will adjust to changes in entertainment industry. 2. Muslim brotherhood influence on fashion After the Arab spring in North Africa and Middle East, the Muslim supported extremist sponsored candidates to elective post. They introduced sheria laws. This included the code of dressing. These saw protest among locals. Many choose to protest these move by wearing green ribbons in a bid to push reforms in the government (McCarty, 2014). This saw zamalek football team members add green ribbons on their team jerseys, their supporters also joint in this movement. In countries that religion rules and dominated their thinking, fashion is determined by these laws and teachings. Other fashions may be considered unacceptable due to their relation and way of display. A religion is a core factor of any given individual and their choice to appreciate fashion is guided by the core values of religion. In some religion wearing revealing clothes is considered unethical. Others use religion as their inspiration while designing thus the unique nature of a given piece while determine nature at which it gets the desired market share. Marketing and promotion is vital while selling ideas. Convincing a different religion to accept ones piece may require a lot and market knowledge plays part in ensuring the target is reached. The zamalek shows how religion and politics influences fashion. 3. The world cup influence on fashion The football fever is up with less than four months before the start of the 2014 FIFA world cup in Brazil. Designers including Nike and Adidas are concentrating in designing team jerseys best on the chances of the team winning the world cup. Majority of other fashion designers are dwelling on team colour to inspire their work. In Rio de Janeiro residence are wearing yellow and blue attires accustomed to the Brazil national team (Football fashion, 2014). Depending on the love and support of any given sport, fashion may vary. If an individual loves base ball he or she may tend to focus on merchandise that relates to the sport. In soccer the trend dwells on clubs that one supports. Depending on any give tournament designers create products that suit the situation and are satisfactory on the consumer’s perspective. A single individual in the related sport may also determine the fashion trend among a given group. The celebrity status of the player my influence a group of fans to copy fashion. The yellow colour in majority of Rio de Janeiro is an indicator of how sports influence fashion. The trend will tend to change after the world cup as many will turn back to their traditional fashions and others will adopt their club colours. A given sport tournament or event is a chance for designers to draw inspirations. The designs may vary but a given theme may remain constant. The designers may use different sports personality in showcasing and advertising their pieces of designs. 4. Winter influence on culture Rose (2014) indicates how the winter climate influences the fashion week in Toronto. In that there is demand for white clothes and heavy wardrobe to ensure that people stay warm. The demand at the time has influenced many departments beyond the run way. The Canadian ice citizens are being treated to white colour. Weather depends on the geographical composition of a given area. The geographical aspect influences fashion of a given design. The weather may range from cold or warm. In some instances designer adjust their piece of work to cover for the environmental factors. In that the designers are directed to change their designs to suite the weather. The choice of the important components involves the heavy ware and other fashionable addition to make it acceptable in the fashion world. The customer will look at these factors and choose their pieces based on the weather and relate them to fashion. The fashions are seasonal as when summer arrives they will ditch the warm clothes for other fashions. In regions that experience a rainy and a dry weather the fashions will depend on the two weathers and adjustment always is driven by demand and recommendation. A designer must be quick to respond to climate changes and deliver products based on the weather and the customers demand. 5. Reverse trends Dixon (2014) indicates the nature at which buyers are willing to pay more for a given old fashion shoe being re introduced into the market. The love of past fashion has seen designers pick fashion products based on this factor. The affordable nature of the designs is what is prompting consumers to prefer these designs to the new ones made of synthetic fibber. Lower prices may act as an advertisement avenue and may work for new product in the market. Upon satisfaction customers may recommend on them to potential consumers. As a result the product may gain popularity. The positive of a lower price is that people tend to be pulled towards trying the goods. The number of initial sales may rise hence prompting the designer and the producer to develop strategies to maintain their share in the market. Customer satisfaction is more than services and customer care rather it is more of quality for money. Prices may influence fashion both negatively and positively. The love of old fashion has seen many designers revive their past designs and innovate on them to ensure uniqueness. The trend is taking over in the fashion world with musicians and other celebrities appreciating them. 6. The horse Chinese festival The year of the horse Chinese festival drew many designers to adopt the theme and fuse it with existing American design to produce a design appreciated in both Texas and by musicians in the pop industry. Kerry Perry and many celebrities have drawn their designs from the fused culture between the Chinese and western designs. Multicultural influence and cross- culture is the other aspect of fashion trends. Designer may fuse two different cultures to provide a well designed product. The two aspects involve drawing from a single culture. The aspect increase the client base as the members of the culture involved in the fusion will be associated with the design. The uniqueness goes ahead to create an eager moment which develops the product to a fashionable product. The product creates a market demand by its unique nature thus prompting the producers to develop a strategy that will ensure the demand is satisfied. The trend may fade with time but cultures tend not to change hence inspiration from culture should see designers develop strategies that will ensure a dominance in the fashion world. Single and cross culture are both determinant of fashion , cultures are just more than ethnicity and race but involve a way of life an individual or a group appreciates and lives.
