Psychological disorders (trauma) Psychological disorders are s of mental circumstances that make an Individual not to function in a normal way; such state of affairs may be very severe and thus may cause death of an individual’s affected. In psychological perspective, we have very many types of psychological disorders, namely trauma, phobia stress among others. In this case am going to concentrate on trauma. This is a psychological state caused due to severe stress; it may occur mostly when one experience greater emotional shock as when one has lost the loved ones in the family. For an instant when one as received an urgent `appalling information, concerning the death the most loved ones in the family, the victim will be traumatized, examples one receiving the news about the death of the mother, or father who are close family members. Trauma might have a very negative effect on our minds and bodies, when one perceive a threat, the body will activate the stress response hormone. The response occurs in both the body and mind. It’s for emergency, adrenaline together with other hormones are released. The body will shut down the process connected with such long-term care. When the body is under immediate danger, the reproduction, digestion, cell repairs, and the body task related to long term functioning become unimportant. The immediate vital is the survival of the victim; the increased blood sugar provides more energy for the muscle (Van, 43). Individuals undergoing through trauma, may longer-term reactions that includes unforeseen, emotions flashbacks, the nervous relationships, or even physical symptoms such as nausea or headache. The feelings of trauma are normal, but some people may have difficulties moving on with their normal daily life provision. Through the attendance to the psychologist trauma, provision treated, by looking for the constructive ways for such individual’s effectiveness in managing their emotions. If individuals suffering from trauma are not taken care of, their situation becomes more worsen hence can die. Disasters like earthquakes, hurricanes transportation accident, hurricanes or wildfires are classically unanticipated, impulsive, and overpowering. There are no superficially visible signs of physical wound, but nonetheless an emotional toil. Following such situation, one may feel bewildered, disoriented, or unable to integrated upsetting information (Van, 43). Once these preliminary reactions subside, individuals may experience a variety of behaviors and thoughts. The common responses may be, changes to thoughts and the behavior patterns individuals might experience repeated and the glowing memories of that event. Such memories may occur without apparent reason and might lead to the physical rejoinder such as hasty heartbeat or sweating. It can be difficult for the victim to concentrate or make any decision. Sleeping and the eating prototype also disrupted, as some may oversleep and over eat, on the others some may experience a loss of appetite and loss of sleep (Van, 51). The sensitivity and reaction to the environmental factors, such as sirens, burning smells, loud noises, or any other environmental sensations, which can arouse memories of the disasters thus creating heightened apprehension (Van, 53). These triggers easily accompanied with by fears that such stress event may repeat itself. The individuals may also have strained interpersonal relationships, these in terms of augmented conflicts, as more disagreement with most of the family members and the coworkers. The victim may become withdrawn from very many things, even become isolated from the usual social activities. The victim may response through stress related physical signs. Headache, chest pains and nausea can occur. These conditions require proper medical attention. Preexisting medical setting can be pretentious by the disasters related stress. The victim may respond by having unpredicted feelings, by being uneasy, nervous, inundated, or grief-stricken. The victim may feel more moody or irritable than usual (Van, 26). The response above may worsen individuals’ lifestyle, therefore, need recovery plan to cope with such emotional state. It is very vital in recognizing that recovery and resilience considered the norm are not lengthened distress. There are numbers of steps that taken to build a sense of emotional control and building the emotional well-being. The victim may undergo the following process: asking the support from friends and people who care for you and able to empathize with the victim’s situation. The social support is one of the key constituents to disaster recovery; friend and family members may be an important resource. The victim may find support and common ground mostly from the ones who have survived from the same situation; they may give advice and encouragement on how to cope up with such situation (Van, 63). Being free to commune the experience is an another step, the victim need to be comfortable to express what she/he is feeling, the victim may talk with secure family members, friends, engaging in any artistic doings, for example, molding clay and drawing. Finding support from neighboring groups and well trained professionals. The professionals such as a psychologist have undergone though thorough training, in handling such situations and may give the victim sufficient support or may even help the victim to diagnose the problem. While the local group may act as a comfort zone for the victims, they will give the victim hope and encouragements that it is not the victim alone, but also others going through the same situation; these help the victim to cope up with the situation as a team, this can be very effective. The victim need to I identify the right time to visit a specialist, for instant after invariable persistent feeling of despondency or distress, and feeling as scarcely able getting through the daily responsibilities and activities. This is the time to visit the local psychologist or use the psychologist locator to know the concerned psychologist. Engaging in the healthy behaviors’ this may enhance the ability of coping with the excessive stress. These may include eating well balanced diet and getting plenty of rest. In case the victim undergoes the ongoing difficulties with quiescent, the victim may find relief by relaxing techniques. He/she should avoid drugs and alcohol since they can be a numbing distraction that can detract and delay the active coping and moving away from the trauma (Van, 79). The victim may reestablish or establish her/his daily routine of life. These may be through eating meals at ordinary times, waking, and sleeping on a regular cycle or by following a regular exercise program. Positive routines of looking forward, to pursue positive things as pursuing a leisure pursuit, like walking through the eye-catching park or reading an interesting book. The victim may avoid making major decisions, such as switching careers and other vital decisions that may tend to be highly stressful. Such decisions may worsen the victim situation or even add more problems because of their consequences. The victim needs also to find enough time for adjustment with the situation, anticipating the situation, to be a difficult time in life. The victim need more time in life to mourn the losses experienced. The victims also need to be patient with the changes in the emotional state. Trauma condition experienced, by many people in the daily life situation, I have been a victim of trauma. I had experienced the above signs. I experienced trauma when I received the news concerning the death of my father, at first, I did not believe the information, I thought it was a big joke on me. After confirming it was true information, I started experiencing dizziness, loss of appetite and hopelessness in life, these situations went on for about two weeks. The situation made me have a poor relationship with my family and friends. I was living in a solitude life; all I wanted in life was to be alone in life. My life situation made me look for the appropriate way to cope up. I made the initial step to visit the psychologist who explained to me that my situation was normal, what I needed was to understand that am not the only one with the problem. He made me understand myself and gave me more advice on how to cope up with the situation. After sometimes, I became better and was able to go back to my normal life situation. Trauma is a normal situation in life circumstances, it’s manageable condition, many people have managed it including me; therefore, people need to take heed of the impacts of trauma, if not well taken care of, one may easily destroy the precious life by engaging in stressful life behaviors , as excessive drinking of alcohol, and even engaging in unhealthy sexual activities.
