? Visual analysis Visual analysis Visual analysis may be effectively defined as scrutiny by the apparent exterior characteristics to arrive at a general estimate, also known as the inspection. This process involves various visual analysis techniques which enable one to categorically identify a photograph as well as categorize it accordingly. Visual analysis it’s effective. Though, its validity and level of details are dependent on the individual conducting it. Sontag’s was a well known American movie maker, political, activist, writer, movie maker, professor as well as a literal icon. She wrote extensively about the field of photography, culture and media science. Sontag was born Susan Rosenblatt, in New York the spawn of Mildred and Jack Rosenblatt, who both hailed from Jewish origins. All through Sonntag’s had a great passion and liking of photography. She started publishing articles on photography in the New York review of books within 1973 to 1977. She would later release books on photography where she would express her stance on the past account and present-day function, off camera work in capitalist countries as well as the impact of photography of the 1970s.During this time she discussed a lot of examples issues and challenges facing modern photography. Susan is well known for her tremendous contribution in photography in one of his books he outlines the importance of photos. Photographs provide proof. Something we listen to, but suspicion, seems to confirm when we're provided with a photo of it. In one account of its effectiveness, the camera evidence incriminates. In one of her books On Photography page 23 (1979) Susan tries to express how she feels what is expressed through the lens holds back more realistic. Information then it gives at one point stating that “the cameras rendering of reality must hide more than it discloses”. This statement that forms the context the study for the rest of the paper. In an effort to count our discount this statement in line with the photo used and how this statement impacts of fashion as a whole. The statement tries to suggest that. For each and every photo taken it holds back more ideal and real information than the one it puts forth or discloses as the reality. In the picture depicted above is captioned from an upfront close up position concentrating only on the face of the individual. The content of the photograph can be easily be identified. The sense of style and fashion is well depicted the photo even outlines a habitual practice of the party involved as it shows him smoking further propagating the notion that smoking is fashionable as many believe. Santiago’s statement states that the camera rendering the reality must always hide more than it reveals discloses. This statement may draw various interpretations according to the specific photo in context. The thematic approach and the contents of the photo, this is more of a fact as the cameras outcome can be easily be determined by the person taking the caption. It has been well known that photographers tend to present the type of photo they believe is the most appealing to the individual or for a particular cause. Photography has undergone great revolution overtime since the advent of photos in the 1830s technological advancement has propelled the whole aspect of photography to a new level of great significance. The above photo has been taken from a close vantage point and partially exposed to right with the sole intention of making it more appealing. This is further proof of Santiago’s statement that for every part depicted allot more of significance left behind the scenes so that the photo will remain relevant by creating the impression given. Though the approach is upfront its not a direct approach as the individual though the intention of the photographer is evident as the point of attention is the face. The dark background is effectively utilized so that it can hinder any other feature within the individuals that may try to show the opposite of what the intention of the photographer. This ensures only the well scripted out areas which show the individual in a positive way is portrayed. The representation of the photo is excellent as the subject matter is easily identifiable and well visible from the first impression on coming into contact with the photo. The subject in the photo is an individual and possibly a model due to the posture and the mount of excessive facial branding and make up also the fact the intention of the photo can be well established as that of showing the appealing nature of the individual. The theme of the photo is the showcasing of fashion and style. Conducting a closer visual analysis one can easily identify that some parts of the photo have been deliberately concealed and some highly emphasized and enhanced to draw maximum attention. The focus on the photo is mainly on the cheeks, forehand and the chin the partial display of the neck kiss a further proof that a photo depiction of reality must hide as much more than it discloses. Too have the photo as appealing as possible major components of the main body parts are hidden and people are expected to judge the photo from the features depicted. The use of light from a vantage point highlights some parts of the photo more than other parts. This also brings to attention the shadow used which also culminates to form the background of the photo the background is black in color and the main impact it has is it helps the individual in the photo to be sharply visible from the rest of the contents on the photo. The central focus of the photo is the person and to a point the intention is to showcase fashion, the contrast in the photo is very high due to the various colors involved and the skillful exposure to light. This goes a long way in trying to depict the individual as highly fashionable. The skillful light exposure makes the final product i.e. the ultimate photo to depict the complexion of the person involved differently. Sontag’s statement that the camera rendering of reality hides mostly than it discloses tries to put the actual picture of how photography can easily be skewed or edited to produce the expected outcome. The sense of fashion and style in photos is something that has been at the heart of photography for a long period of time. Over time photos have been known as an interpretation of the daily activities as well as paintings. They are known to be a blurred impression of reality in the above photo the photographer has gone far and afar to make fashion snap photo’s based in a mainly marvelous and amazing way. Other than the fashion sensitivity depicted in the photo emotions the photographer is trying to bring across to the viewers who see his true creation toward all of his photographs. Everyone likes this photograph and believes he is a true inspiration. Photography, with its capacity to avoid the conscious mind and to capture the anarchy of humanity, was viewed by the Surrealists as providing a dissimilar perspective on the humanity and presented a component of possibility in its course of capturing and budding the image. The above image can also will be known as fashion photography. Retrospectively, fashion photography comprises chronological document that provides us proof of the practice and standards of a particular time. Though, fashion photography is not simply a flaccid reflection of an era; it serves as a medium for circulating novel patterns of utilization tied to growing concepts of the personality (Radner 128).From the analysis of the provided image the statement made by Sontag’s is evidently true, this due to the fact that if all factors were to be taken into account and the photo captioned. From a vantage point from which it would capture more details of the individual. Then impression created of a strong fashion and style could be completely different. From what is being illustrated in the current image. Over time photographs will remain the ideal way and means of illustrating the world we live in and humanity. The memories will remain all through due to impacts of photography long gone are the days when photography was an expensive practice back in the 1840s during its invention. Back then taking photographs had no any particular social use by then. The great strides made in photography leaves no query why in the modern society great skill on visual analysis and interpretation of photos will always remain a priority due to its significance. Majorly in the fashion industry which has given rise to fashion photography. References Booth, W. Colomb, G. and Williams, J. The Craft of Research. Chicago: Chicago Press. (2003) Cottrell, S.
