FINAL REFLECTION ON THE Unit: Definitions of Arts and Human Values: Changes in your understanding of the terms Arts constitutes of crafts, design, video, ceramics, growing, photography, painting and sculpture. Many artistic disciplines have been categorized under aspects of visual arts and together with other types of arts. Visual arts also constitutes applied arts like fashion design, industrial art, graphic design, interior design and decorative art (Merryman et al. 2007). My definition of human values includes principles, convictions, standards and beliefs adopted by people as their guidelines to the daily activities. It is looked at principal human values as groundwork on which professional morals are developed. They are set of continuous behaviors and measure that people decide to practice in the search of carrying out what is right or what the society wants. Most of the legislation and laws are developed by the human values. It is distributed into complexity, unpredictability and quarrelsomeness. From the definition of arts, I view it as a well-expanded definition. It tells me that art involves a lot of things other than the previous definition of which I only used to relate it to drawing. The definition has brought out the two broad categories of art which has expanded by knowledge on what the arts covers. From the above definition, human value is distributed into three: complexity, unpredictability and quarrelsomeness. According to me I can not exactly tell the difference between the three values. I also feel that every person should constitute his or her value and therefore they cannot be mixed. Some of them may be similar, but we will never get the same. I also believe that what are usually seen in a human to judge him or her are the human values. One may, therefore, exhibit a positive or a negative value. The judgment of the value is based on the exposing of the behavior. This requires strong visual to identify and interpret the values well whether positive or negative. Significant moments in learning Experience: What changed your perspective? When did you view things differently? In the course of my learning, I have come across various articles and books that are related to arts. One of the articles I read is "Art of Spiritual Practice" (Grey et al. 2001). In the reading of this article, I came to view different methods through which spirituality have the influence on artists. Grey came with descriptions to differentiate just seeing and deeply seeing, "Seeing takes place at the time our attention is taken by a scene, a person or object." (Grey et al. 2001). The author used the experience he had got to bring how seeing functions. If you just stare the extent he loses, deeply seeing does not function. If you can see the safety of the wife and daughter, and then you have a deeply seeing. The author explains that the deep seeing is not the surface experience, which is a sensation. In this case, I feel it is love. He has lots of love to his daughter and wife and therefore loss of money does not make him sad. In comparison to family love, he takes family love. According to the explanation given by Grey, he states that for you to see an object deeply you must be in a position to bring out the difference between the object and the various material objects field. Later on the viewer senses harmonies and rhythms which lead to wide and restrained pleasure sensation mixed with fear as specific spiritual art radian and appreciation of the subject. To my opinion, all the thing constitutes two side effects. A good example is an insect. When it harms vegetable, we take it as a bad thing because they are involved in stealing our food. Looking at the perspective of the insects, they take human beings as bad because they consume a thousand times of food as them. Therefore, from the art perspective, we appreciate and face difficulties. However how much it is hard, the things will at long last pass. Another experience I got was from the article by Lessig in "Comparing of Cultures" (Lessig, 2014) ). In this article, the part that is most interesting is about the law inhibiting the youths for coming up with new forms of remixing. These laws cannot prevent us from remixing, but Lessig provide the explanation that schools and firms will continue to shy away from new forms of literacy due to the copyrights uncertainty. The author provided the explanation on the uncertainty concerning the freedom to involve in the form of creativity to only suppress the institution willingness to assist in the development of the literary type. In my opinion, the remix is just a creation of art. If we take music to be art, why is not remix? It may form amendment for the genuine music, but it is still a creation. I, therefore, believe it is not a copyright in conflict (Lessig, 2014). Ways by which the class structure aided your learning experience of arts: Description of the journey with classmates. The way the course was organized added a lot of value to the future career. The tutors available had a lot of experience giving us the quality skills and knowledge of the course. The department is well equipped with the required equipment for the practical part of the course. The course outline is well organized with the notes given in a well-organized manner. The assessment of the students is well managed and organized in a way that we feel motivated. Reading materials are readily available, and students easily access to them. The exposure was made easier as the students came from different levels of exposure. Sharing of ideas was made easier, and the communication among student was enhanced by way of discussion. The teaching techniques were also favorable as the equipment for teaching was of the latest technology. Demonstrations were also provided, and this made it easier to gain experience in the way of operating and handling equipment. The structure of the course is also put in a way those only the relevant things are provided to the students. This is important as the student only concentrates of what is going to benefit his or her future career. The assessment of students severally has allowed them to grasp the basic knowledge and skills, and this has, therefore, enhance continuous reading and mastering of the course. What to take into future from experience From the experience I got from the article by Grey, my future is seeing deeply on the physical appearance. By way of the deep seeing, I will be in a position to analyze the characters of the people. Deep seeing is also worth during emotions. In case someone has got a bad mood, deeply seeing will enable us minimize the violence. In case someone is not happy, it helps me to console him. I will, therefore, continue to see deeply in the later life. Furthermore, from the experience and knowledge I got from Lessigs article, my future is to keep thinking about the value of art. I have majorly involved myself with writing process and views sharing on various subjects about art and human values, and this make me know a lot. As to the remix topic, I love listening to remix music may be I may be a young person. Through the copyright problem, I never cared a lot because our nation is not concerned with the problem. It is somehow out of the topic, but I want to maintain that art is an abstract and deep thing. Also from the experience have got from the practical and basic knowledge from the lectures, venturing in a film shooting career is easier as my interest to engage in the course was driven by this.
