Extract of sample "Reliability and Effectiveness of Technical Telecommunications Systems"

In the ancient time, communication used to rely on physical forms like visual signals. The physical forms of communication were not reliable as they were dependent on physical conditions like weather. They were also limited by human incapabilities and thus were not the most effective and reliable for long distance communication. In the past, communication was limited to regions and most of this communication had to rely on physical engagements that were tedious, time consuming and cumbersome. With technical telecommunications, communication has become reliable, effective and very efficient. Technological advancement has enabled individuals to share information across a wide area and to communicate with a larger audience without even traveling or incurring expensive costs. Knowledge has become readily available and thus the society in all sectors has become enlightened (Schiller 6). Radio, television and print media have revolutionized the relying of information across board. Radios and television broadcasting have effectively enabled governments to transmit crucial information to the citizens. Government policies and laws are published on various gazettes and other print media publications. Further explanation and elaboration are carried out through the television media. Through such means, all individuals are able to know the policies enacted by the central government. Some of the people are located in far away places and thus the traditional physical forms of communication could not have worked. When there is a state of emergency, all the people in a state are notified through state and other private media houses. People get the information as quickly as possible and are able to avoid potential dangers, at the same time obeying the law by conducting themselves as required by the state of emergency. In the contemporary modern world, the print and electronic media are trusted more than any institution by the public. The media has been on the forefront in condemning the atrocities committed by certain individuals in the society especially the powerful political individuals. The stories carried across borders by television and radio stations are very effective in triggering the emotion of the masses (Leven 21). The masses are then crucial in compelling the governments to address the highlighted issues. This is done through demonstrations and boycotts. Telephone communication has revolutionized the individual-to-individual communications. In the past, telephones were not portable, rather analog and fixed in a given area. Not every person could access telephones or they were not available in all areas, with their communication not clear. With the emergence of improved technology, telephone communication has been improved with cell phones being made; communication industry has thus undergone major changes. The communication process has become more reliable and effective. Family members are able to communicate with their loved ones no matter where they are located. Communication across borders, that is, regional and international communication has become more efficient and reliable. A person in Africa can comfortably communicate with another person in the US with technical telecommunication methods being the facilitators. In the past, people traveling oversee stayed for long periods without communicating with their loved ones and fellow country people. Families stayed worried, as they never had to know the fate of their loved ones until they returned. It was thus very hard to maintain family ties while abroad and families were easily broken. With the development of efficient technical telecommunication systems people are able to communicate irrespective of the geographical location. Distance and geographical barriers have thus been taken care of by telecommunication. With telephones, communication across borders has become a common feature of the modern society. One is able to know the happenings in another continent first hand. Through international media, the world has effectively been connected with reliable news being availed at all time. News channels such as CNN, BBC and Al Jazeera have become reliable source of information for people in different countries. The Middle East Revolutions are effectively covered and the rest of the world is able to get a glimpse of what is happening. Human rights abuses for example in Libya have been covered extensively prompting the international community led by the NATO nations to take action by waging war to stop the government forces from committing crimes against humanity. People of the world without even leaving their various locations are well informed on global affairs because of the improved telecommunications, which are very reliable, as they have sophisticated equipments with journalists on the ground covering the events. The computer technology has revolutionized the communication and all other sectors of the society. Through the internet, globalization has been greatly fostered with all forms of communication also improved. You Tube videos on the internet have enabled many people to know about the global affairs and particular events in various locations. For example in 2009, after the disputed Iranian general election, the anti-riot police harshly treated the protesters. To air their grievances and make known of the events in the country, the protesters posted videos on You Tube exposing the government’s actions. It is important to note that the international media had been barred from covering events in the country and had been expelled. If it were not for the internet, people would not have known about the human rights abuses in the country. The international community was thus able to pressurize the government to stop those oppressive measures or else be faced with international sanctions. On the internet, especially through the World Wide Web application, social networks such as Twitter and Facebook have been developed. People from all over the world share ideas at the same time tackling common problems facing them, while other just intermingle for fun. A global culture has emerged because of effective and reliable communication. The various trends have been boosted and promoted to global trends. Fashion, movies, music, foods, language and other societal entities have long ceased to be perceived as regional trends rather they have become global trends endorsed by many people. Advertisement has also become much improved with global companies advertising their products in the internet (Freeman 4). Business ventures, global business cooperation and collaborations have also been boosted through the improved technical telecommunication means. Blogs and cloud computing have radicalized the method of doing business with corporations reaping heavily from these web applications. Blogs have enabled users to be actively involved in debates, with customers communicating with producers in ensuring the products and services provided are world class. Cloud computing enables companies to utilize only what they require saving time and resources. With such improved web application, communication has become reliable and effective, time saving and cost cutting. Through effective communication especially through the internet, people have become more aware of the problems facing them. They have joined efforts in combating the hardships and problems in respective areas. Poor leadership that does not take into consideration the interest of the people has been vehemently condemned. Through effective communication by the masses, the Tunisian and Egyptian governments were removed from power, once the people felt their problems were no longer the prime agenda of the respective regimes. The availability of information with elaborate and effective communication has seen the whole of Middle East being thrown into chaos in an effort by the masses to remove and replace the regimes that are said to be tyrannical, oppressive, corrupt and inefficient. All these have been facilitated by effective and reliable technical telecommunication. Technical telecommunication systems have also ensured that there is more productivity and time is well managed. Large organizations, some of which are multinational corporations have been able to expand their areas of business operations with productivity level skyrocketing due to the improved communication systems. Communication is very important in ensuring a company’s management keeps in touch with the various employees. Any change of plans is quickly notified to the relevant authority. Through the websites and other electronic modes of communication, it has even become possible for people to work in their homes. Multitasking has thus become a common feature of the 21st century. With gadgets such as cell phones, television sets, internet, teletypes, radio, fiber optics, satellites, telegraphs and other sophisticated modes of communications, technical telecommunication has become very effective and reliable. Time management has been well taken care of with many businesses having cost cutting. Communication has now become the most important aspect of the 21st century with the telecommunication industry becoming one of the most lucrative business ventures (Leven 30). People will always be hungry for information that is authentic and that which has a profound impact. Technology has thus been the most sought after field with millions of dollars being channeled to the communication industry. The knowledge of the outer space has also become possible as satellites convey accurate information. Works Cited Freeman, Roger. Telecommunication System Engineering.
